The logic is that when the rich get disproportionately richer, they place a higher weight on moral considerations, which induces some rich moral liberals to swing Democratic. This, in turn, induces the parties to polarize on social issues because their voter bases have now both become more extreme. Faced with such socially increasingly polarized parties, a poor, morally conservative voter may well become more likely to vote Republican, even when his materially preferred economic policy has moved to the left as a result of increased income inequality.

Enke measured the level of support for universalist values by using what he calls “a moral foundation questionnaire” that “elicits respondents’ agreement with moral value statements,” including such “universalist statements” as “Compassion with suffering is a crucial virtue,” “Laws should treat everyone fairly” in contrast to such “communal values” statements as “Be loyal to your family even if they have done something wrong,” “Be a team player, rather than express oneself”

Analyzing the speeches of recent presidential candidates, Enke contends that Donald Trump stood apart for his focus on the world of his followers:

Trump’s moral language is less universalist, or equivalently, more communal, than that of any other presidential nominee in recent history. Trump is also more communal than his 2016 primary contenders. Moreover, the difference in moral appeal between Trump and Hillary Clinton is particularly pronounced.

This is a good explanation of why people like Trump.

The rich liberal (Leftist) that consistently votes Democrat isn't particularly moral. They substitute their wealth to buy credibility as being moral, even as they act immorally (see Epstein's customers as one example). Worse, they aren't above trying to force their pseudo-morality on everyone else by creating laws and taxes.

At least the conservative (Rightist) leave you alone for the most part.

Millions of under educated Republican leaning voters consistently vote against their own best interests.

It boggles the mind.

Democrats have long said "we're going to tax the rich and redistribute it to everyone else in the form of gov't programs, entitlements etc. and if you don't support that you are voting against your best economic interest".

On a more granular level I look around California at how expensive it is to live here and laugh at the idea that this is in my best economic interest. But yeah, they mock anyone who doesn't buy that sentiment (from above).

Americans aren't stupid enough to fall for this nonsense.

They experience the disastrous BidenDem economic idiocy daily.

Only your fellow still living at hmoe leftmorons believe such bullshit.

Increased access to healthcare in their shit hole Red states.

Not a function of government. Healthcare should be market driven. Did you know there is only one broad sector of the healthcare industry that hasn't seen prices rise out-of-sight, and it is the only sector that doesn't rely on government and health insurance?

That sector is cosmetic and related surgery. The price of that has risen much slower than inflation because people have to pay for that themselves. The same would be true of healthcare in general if it wasn't government and insurance paid for. That's why many Americans and Canadians go to Mexico to get pharmaceuticals, dentistry, and other healthcare done too. There, the good healthcare is all market driven and pay-as-you-go. Mexican government run healthcare sucks massively.

Increased access to food stamps for families that are struggling.

And, if those "under educated" are hurting? Many people with limited formal education do quite well in jobs that have reasonably high pay but don't require a lot of education. Ever watch the show Dirty Jobs? That sort make reasonable to good money and most never went to college.

Increased funding for education

Why would they when they see themselves doing well without massive amounts of that, or see what education that's available sucks and not because of lack of funding?

You seem to have a very naive and condescending attitude towards people without advanced education if you ask me.

I usually work for corporations who are owned by rich and poor, and more importantly have both rich and poor customers. I have tried to live by the motto "serve the classes, eat with the masses, serve the masses, eat with the classes." It makes sense if you think about it. If you own McDonald’s and serving food to poor people, you will be very rich. If you are a butler, serving food the the wealthy, you are far less likely to be rich.

My guess is you are neither. You are probably retired, so dependent on the very "gubmint" you hate so much. I doubt trump would send you a Social Security check every month out of his personal funds, but you should ask him.

Wrong. I get nothing from the gubmint.

My statement stands; poor people don't employ others. Fact.
