Why are there no muslims in star trek???

The original Shatner series was a metaphor for 1960's U.S. culture.
There was the U.S. War in Vietnam.
There were the racial tensions, spearheaded by MLK etc.

The literary advantage of Sci-Fi includes the power to pierce the bias foundation.

When the news report is about discrimination against N e g r o e s by White Southerners, TV viewer's minds may already be made up.

BUT !!

When the same style of discrimination is Telosians against those from Rigel 4, viewers can take a more objective, less prejudiced look.

In the late 1960's, Islam didn't make the news that much, and thus never earned reflection in the original series.

Thanks.

MeTV carries the original Shatner series.
I'd like to see the ones with Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, & even the one Kate Mulgrew as well.

It is if nothing else, an amazingly durable literary franchise.
