I'm a career military veteran. I know lots of other veterans. If you were to ask even those who received say a Silver Star for heroism or a Purple Heart at your local VFW or American Legion post they'd say they were just doing their job. They wouldn't look down on those that sat in an office doing paperwork--somebody had to. They'd see engineers, like me, as unsung equals, for making sure they had the stuff to fight with.
I don't look down on the E-nothing veteran sitting on the stool next to me in one of those places who was a cook. That was his job. I don't expect special consideration for what I did in the service either. I did my job, he did his.
You know nothing.
