Why are Democrats so Racist against our Black Population?

Say what?
Andrew Johnson's Role: After Lincoln's assassination, President Johnson—a War Democrat running with Republicans in 1864—vetoed extensions of the Freedmen's Bureau in 1866, arguing it violated states' rights and unfairly empowered Black citizens.
Resistance to 13th Amendment: Many Democrats initially resisted the 13th Amendment in 1864-1865, rallying around states' rights before it was ultimately passed and ratified, ending slavery but providing no compensation to the enslaved.
