whose turn?

i hear their turn or our turn, but when will it be the nation's turn

please note that pure democracy does not work

we have had an election and the 'people' have spoken, but we had that 4 and 8 years ago with a similar result...about half the nation felt disenfranchised

those in charge failed to either spot or prevent the worldwide economic disaster

if you ask someone who is starving or facing the end of their dreams about abortion, freedom of religion or some other hot button issue, they are likely to look at you like you are crazy

we have two immediate worldwide problems that over shadow just about everything else, a fiscal system gone bust and a potential pandemic

still there are fanatics that will say, but my issue is really important and in a democracy (ok, democratic republic) we have to listen to them!

vox populi vox dei translates to, 'my god, how did we get in this mess'

oh well

I do agree, the main problem we face, at least until we see how bad this 'swine flu' get, is our economy. I mean look at the numbers, the latest out today, shows a -6.1 contraction in growth, ouch!

ouch indeed

which is worse, letting the economy tank even worse or trying to shore it up...time will tell

if we are going to go further into debt, at least spend it on the nation's needs

with regard to foreign investment, if our enemies own enough of the u s of a, then they will not want to attack us...if they are sane that is

Not really, it just makes us easier to pick off...

China threatens 'nuclear option' of dollar sales

The Chinese government has begun a concerted campaign of economic threats against the United States, hinting that it may liquidate its vast holding of US treasuries if Washington imposes trade sanctions to force a yuan revaluation.

Two officials at leading Communist Party bodies have given interviews in recent days warning - for the first time - that Beijing may use its $1.33 trillion (£658bn) of foreign reserves as a political weapon to counter pressure from the US Congress.

Shifts in Chinese policy are often announced through key think tanks and academies.

Described as China's "nuclear option" in the state media, such action could trigger a dollar crash at a time when the US currency is already breaking down through historic support levels.

It would also cause a spike in US bond yields, hammering the US housing market and perhaps tipping the economy into recession

there is still the MAD option, mutual assured destruction

without the u s of a as a trading partner china would be in bad shape

but then they tend to take the long view...

They cause a dollar crash, and a depression, we'll have little choice but to buy cheep Chinese imports. It's a vicious cycle, and we lose every time. Hopefully we get some leaders who reverse this cycle before it's to late. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

we did it to ourselves and the rest of the world before they could try it

but, if you want to be the big kid on the block you have to be willing to take a few blows along the way
