Jazmine’s death was publicized in part by the efforts of activist Shaun King, civil rights lawyer Lee Merritt, who represents the family, and numerous celebrities. Merritt and King offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, and King has continuously tweeted updates in the case to his 1.1 million Twitter followers.

Many, including Merritt, speculated that the crime was racially motivated based on early witness accounts of the suspect — who was described by authorities as a “thin white man” in his 30s or 40s.

And now we know the mother of Jazmine Barnes is a Facebook friend with her baby girl’s killer.

All the hate directed at whites because of the claim that the shooter was White.........The mom should be charged with a hate crime for allowing that false claim to spread.

Police initially said that a white man in a red pickup truck pulled up beside the car and opened fire. But at a press conference on Sunday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters that police now believe the driver was "most likely just a witness, by sight or sound, to what actually transpired."
Gonzalez said the Barnes family may have remembered the red truck because it was the last thing they saw as they were fired upon.
Gonzalez said a tip delivered to Shaun King, a racial justice activist who had offered a reward for information, helped the sheriff's office identify Black, who is African American. He is now in custody in East Harris County.

Now that it’s clear that this is just another case of everyday black on black inner city violence rather than the work of a dreaded “white supremacist” boogieman, all of the media and black political leadership’s concern for the dead girl will vanish in a microsecond.
