Righties claim that it's time to blame President Obama for the state of affairs because he's been in office nearly 9 months.
They don't want you to consider that nearly every dollar of today's federal spending, and almost all current federal taxes were dictated by laws that were already on the books when President Obama took office.
The GOP played the tax cut card for every circumstance during the Bush years.
Surplus? Give the rich tax breaks!
Dot-com bust? - give big business corporate welfare!
9/11 - spend trillions or the terrorists win!
One thing is clear; you can’t increase taxes in a deep recession, and there is very little of the federal budget that you can cut to make a difference, so you have to run a deficit.
Now the hypocrites who cheered Bush on while he borrowed and spent us into a depression are demanding a balanced budget?
When Bush came into office after stealing the 2000 election, the national debt was under 6 trillion dollars. In January, 2009, when President Obama came into office, the debt was nearly 12 trillion dollars.
We are dealing with the legacy of huge tax cuts for the top tier of wealthy Americans, a botched war in Afghanistan, plus a very costly, unnecessary lost war in Iraq.
All these add up to the worst economic situation since the.Great Depression of the 1930s, which was also caused by GOP mismanagement and greed.
It took FDR years to fix the Republican's mess last time.
It will take more than nine or ten months for President Obama to get the country back on track this time.
Bush (and before him, Saint Raygun) spent years blaming their problems on their predecessors, so we can cut President Obama the same slack.
Unless you think a Black president doesn't deserve the same chance a white one got.
