Who says guns don't stop criminals

Maybe he'll let you have "touching time".

Not necessarily; retards can be trained to get along.

They're called "neologisms". duh.

Way to stand up for your cause, loser.

Its odd that you think that civil behavior involves "touching time". But I guess you have different ways of making friends than I do.

I have stated my case. BAC is not arguing with me. He has said all along that he has no problem with myhaving a gun.

Just because someone disagrees with my view does not make them necessarily wrong. In this instance both sides make valid points.

And since BAC is not interested in owning a gun, he shouldn't. He would not practice with it. I doubt he would make as informed a decision on which gun to get. And he would not maintain it and select the proper ammunition for it. So for BAC, a gun would be a bad choice.

For me its a great choice. I do practice with mine. I am very well versed in the safety rules. I am as knowledgeable as anyone I know on the topic of guns. And I maintain my firearms impeccably and select the best ammunition for whatever task the firearm is going to be used for.

But if you are the same sort of person in real life that you are here, I would question whether or not you should own a gun.

Anything besides name-calling, loser of the argument?

Oh .. so NOW we're worried about name-calling?

Solitary attempted to speak to your dumb ass with respect, you rejected it, said it was "pussiness", this after telling me to "stfu", and said you were having fun.

NOW you're whining like a sissy about name-calling .. and me having fun.

Because you're a neanderthal, you don't recognize that you just proved you're a neanderhal .. but I won't tell anybody.

I don't know if you two are at that level yet. Do you what you feel comfortable with.

But he does. He has a problem with the second amendment. He's a gun grabber. He's lying to you. See, You believe lies.

In no way is a dog a viable subsitute for a gun. That's retardation.

He's a gun grabber, against the second amendment. Ask him. He believes all firearms should be outlawed, and here you are believing he respects your rights. Don't be a fool.

I think my explanation of why some people should have a dog instead of a gun was perfectly rational.

You claim that BAC is all for my guns being outlawed. But he has not shown that to me. I prefer to wait until someone actually says something against my beliefs to argue with him. I am not basing my discussion with him on your words about what he believes.

And what I saw him say was that he didn't care about the 2nd amendment. Not that he was against it. In fact, he has not offered one negative comment about my gun ownership. Perhaps he is just wanting total assholes to be disarmed?

QUOTE]

If someone is not comfortable with a gun, won't practice with a gun, is not knowledgeable about guns, and won't maintain the gun properly, then they should not own a gun.

If they should not own a gun, the dog is an acceptable substitute.

Having a gun inside the house will not deter a burglar from ATTEMPTING the crime. But the dog barking very well might. So his solution actually removes the probability of the crime ever taking place in your home.

Or you could get a sign that says, " I have a gun" . It is merely your idiotic opinion that a dog is an acceptable substitute.

Of course, its just your opinion that my opinion is idiotic.

I don't think most people want to litter the appearance of their home with signs.

I am enough of a gun buff that most people around where I live know that I have guns. So that is another option.

There are a variety of ways of protecting yourself.

Yep.

Got a link?

Get a sign that says you have a dog and a gun then, and quit bugging all of us.

Us? Who is this "us" that you claim I am bugging? The only one who seems annoyed at my posts here is you.

And since I don't have a dog, why would I have a sign that says I have a gun and a dog. Why would I post a sign anyway? I prefer to enjoy the way my home and the yard look.

Us is everyone but you. The dog referred to in your sign will be bac's dog. WHen someone asks you about the dog and guns sign, you can tell them you share the dog with a friend and he has the dog for now, but you have the guns on the premises.

Why spend all this time explaining? It seems wasteful to me.

This whole place is a waste of time and energy. This is an interesting new standard you've developed. Why is that? Cuz it's time to play pile on Asshat? Well I've put the pile back on all of you. All of your are piled upon by me.

I'm not talking about here.

Why explain your sign?

Why make one?

People will know I have dogs when they bark at them, they'll know I have guns when they bark at them.

LMAO!!

Asshat, you think you are doing anything but splitting hairs and making a fool of yourself?

The topic was being discussed and both sides were being presented.

You got all pissy when I made comments about you being so hostile, and now you are trying to maintain your imaginary badass image.

If I am bugging anyone but you, they have not said anything.

And if bugging people was reason enough to be quiet, you would have been silent a long time ago.

Im dominating this thread.

Im dominating this thread.

Is that what you call it?

It seems to me that I have said that both means of protection make sense and can work. BAC said he didn't want a gun but that his dog works. But you keep stomping your feet and saying "No! Only a gun works!".

If you call that dominating, I guess you and I have different definitions of the word.

Everyone in America has guns in their home, and the ironic effect of that is that criminals coming into homes usually come in with guns themselves. The criminal does obviously have a natural advantage of not being just woken up and groggy, but don't tell the gun nuts this. They're uber-awesome gunslingers who sleep with one eye open.

i dont and i wont own a gun, i diss like em all to much, but i am all for gun rights... that said, you come into my house with a gun you dam well better be ready to use it.

I like that! :p

Obviously the dog in my avatar is not our main watchdog. He has a tremendous deep bark but is overall more friendly to strangers, especially once they've been accepted, than is our nearly 3-yr-old Australian Shepherd, Rory. Rory is the sweetest guy in the world -- with us, and when I take him out away from the house. If he doesn't recognize my husband at first, though, we have to be careful. He first puffs up and stiffens his stance, and gives a nearly undetectable warning "wufff". Following that he has a horrific bark and curved teeth like a Husky's. Most people will just back off. His bark "that could break glass" is reserved for when he's happy and excited. The Border Collie chimes in when Rory has established that he's defining his territory. I'm an extremely sound sleeper, but they will take care of that should it ever be necessary!

We also have pistols but my husband wants that for protection when he's on the road with the race car. We both practice at the range and have read and observed, and as much as possible, practiced, all the safety regulations. For his CC licence my husband also took a course locally with an accredited teacher.

I wouldn't want to shoot anyone by mistake, ever, but in the middle of the night nobody should be in our home. I mentioned some time ago the incident that taught me I'd have no compunction about defending myself, and by extension, my loved ones.

USC, Texas just passed a similar law to the one you described, I think it went into effect last year.

I thought Texas has had a law for some time that allows one to use deadly force to protect property. Ie if you catch someone stealing a cow or a lawnmower you can shoot em. Is this not correct ?
