If you don't like it then I suggest you support proper and complete sex education and make birth control available to everyone who wants it instead of all the BS about trying to shame people into complying to a sexless existence unless married...a very strange set of principles those....I would add that all children be supported and educated unless of course you want to decide who keeps these children when they're born, maybe you think mothers should be sequestered until the child is born and then taken to be given to 'good christian' homes.

First I would like to say that I personally do support all contraceptives and sexual education. Second, I wonder what your definition of strange is. Because all across the world threw many century spanning cultures, sex before wedlock is taboo. Third children whom are born yes I believe should be supported and educated. Fourth, abandoned children and orphan's should have much thought put into where they will end up permanently. Your words make me wonder on the human condition.. No wait I meant your mental condition.

That may be so today but don't forget that outlawing abortion would result in over one million additional babies each and every year. I suggest you research adoption agencies and orphanages in the past, agencies that ran before legalized abortion. It's not a pretty picture. There are also documentaries interviewing today's adults who were "wards of the State". Sexual and psychological abuse was rampant.

The interviewees, then children, recalled being scorned because they were not chosen for adoption. As they grew older and saw younger children being adopted the idea no one wanted them became instilled in their mind. They had no self-esteem which, among other things, led many to accept abusive relationshps later in life. To many, it was better to be wanted and abused than not wanted at all.

Like anything else if abortion was outlawed the "market" would be flooded with children and we already know how some people think of children. (Let's teach them the work ethic by having them clean school toilets.)

Also, children were a desired commodity in the past due to the rural lifestyle. An additional pair of hands, regardless of size, were an asset on the family farm. Then there were the household chores before electric stoves and diswashers and other labor saving devices. Small hands could bring in stove wood and wash dishes, feed the chickens, weed the garden and sort apples. There was no shortage of child labor jobs. And when it came to temporary fostering governments would supply a stipend. Not only free labor but a little cash, too.

A neighbor I grew up with was fostered for a number of years. Never legally adopted. Never accepted into the family. Bullied by the sons of the couple. Even at age 10 or 12 I was able to emphasize as it was obvious he had little joy in his life. He's dead now. Helicopter crash in northern BC, I'm told.

Abortion is not a pleasant event but neither is a life of hell.

If you haven't looked into orphanages and seen interviews of the adults, who as children experienced it, I suggest you do so. Then consider society's views, today, towards the poor and those with emotional problems.

Sex education in school and free contraceptions and medical care plus support for education and you can keep the rest. Your pushing another religious agenda....or another religious agenda pusher...either way we have a secular government for a reason, it was set up to be secular because historically when government is contaminated by religion it goes bad. You can't legislate morality or sexual practices...and you have no business in anyone elses' bedroom or uterus. Pay attention to your own self for a change.
