While the Democrats would continue to treat Trump like the Republicans treated Obama, it's what the American voters think that is important, especially on election day. Do you really believe Trump has done everything possible as President of the United States to minimize the negative impact of this pandemic and to save American lives?
While it's possible Trump may eak out a win in November, the Senate may turn blue and the House become a deeper blue. That scenario could become very interesting soon after Inauguration Day.

Agreed. Trump prolonged the economic pain by ignoring the problem until it could no longer be ignored.
His failures aren't simply administrative, but mainly a failure of leadership. He clearly does not believe COVID is a problem since he held an indoor rally last night without complying with CDC recommendations. Trump ignoring the science on this pandemic is his signature from the very beginning of the crisis even though he clearly knew and understood the dangers as the Woodward tapes prove.
