White Prider coming to FL on thursday. Gov declares STATE OF EMERGENCY!!

And he was prepared for this Marxist Antifa false flag operation yesterday. Not only was he full up on LEO, the masks and pseudo-weapons were banned.

Remember, in Charlottesville, the police grouped the KKK and Antifa together and told police to stand down.

That's the only reason it happened. Had the Soros Antifa bunch never showed up, nothing would have happened.

I'm convinced Kessler (Charlottesville) and Spencer are left wing plants. Research their history. Kessler belonged to OWS and Spencer, a Socialist. Doesn't add up.
to the bolded..that's good.
Nice to see someone actually following the law against these fascists bringing masks and clubs.

It's gonna be Nelson (incumbent) vs. Scott for Senate.
I'm still a registered Dem -and I'm getting all kinds of junk Email from Nelson.

I have no use for either of these clowns...i will probably go 3rd party as usual

You just gave TTQ64 a heart attack. LOL.

I was talking about Richard Spencer, the guy who spoke yesterday.

From a big picture perspective what do you think changed racism going forward from shutting him down from speaking?

You're not listening. NO ONE CARES ABOUT RACISTS BUT RACISTS.

Why do you care?

I care because there are people who support his ideology and beliefs. Shutting him down from speaking makes the people doing it feel good but is that the best way to deal with it? I don't know, that wasn't a rhetorical question, but this is a discussion board so that's why I bring it up. Does pushing certain people to the underground make the problem go away?

Who cares where they go?

You cannot eliminate them or keep them from thinking like racists.

What you can do is keep them and their thinking out of the mainstream, and that is exactly what's taking place.

Doing nothing does nothing.

Well said. Very well said.

I'm asking, not rhetorically, if pushing them underground keeps them out of the mainstream. Some call Trump a white supremist and being President is about as main stream as you can get.

Again, I'm not here fighting you or arguing for argument's sake. I'm having an exchange of ideas to hear thoughts other than my own.

Is there fear that if people hear him speak more will agree with Spencer? In theory I don't like the idea of a white supremist having the ability to speak at a major college campus. In reality I'd prefer him to speak and be exposed for who he is and what he believes. Those who claim they are alt-right and think that means some form of economic nationalism should know the guy who coined the term alt-right is a white supremist. Maybe that will change people's minds for the better.

I'm not at all suggesting that it's wrong to ask the questions you ask, or that there is anything nefarious in the asking.

What I'm suggesting to you that the method you suggest to deal with racists won't work. It never has.

Racists should be confronted and rejected .. and they'll end up like David Duke. He will always have a following because racism exists in this country. But he's marginalized and a joke because people confronted his ignorance, not just ignore it.

Again, for the sake of discussion you say David Duke is marginalized but we have a President who some call a white supremist. How is that marginalizing racism? I don't know the answer to this but do more people know about Richard Spencer before or after the UF protest?

The reality is with the internet ideas can still be spread.

(and I'm not saying your responses above are wrong)

And this is exactly what way to many people refuse to recognize and / or accept.

If there had been no protests to the march in Charlottesville, it would have been an "eh" :dunno:

Same with Spencer.

But NO; it's the left who find it necessary to make a mountain out of a mole hill, then add in the MSM media's desire for sensationalism, and surprise; you give the nut jobs just what they want:
attention
acknowledgement
coverage
etc.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, so you're against free speech; unless it's someone or a group you agree with. :good4u:

Bill Nelson?

Good lord. He needs to get out of there. Scott has done a good job though.

I'll say again, Trump is the best thing to happen to this country at this time. Because he, a white supremacist, is the president, the fight against racism has intensified beyond anything I've ever seen .. and it isn't just African-Americans fighting that battle alone.

People should know who Spencer is, and should know what he stands for.

This nation is evolving, and post Trump, America will enter a period of reconciliation, accommodation, and greater diversity. Progressive voices will be stronger than they've ever been and Hispanics will play a much larger role in American society than they have in the past. The browning of America.

Have you noticed how few racists show up at events these days? Every where they show up, they are grossly outnumbered.

These are exciting times brother, and the post-Trump era will begin sooner than you think.

3 White Extremists Charged With Attempted Homicide Following Richard Spencer Speech
One produced a gun during an argument with protesters, while the other two shouted “I’m going to f**king kill you,” “kill them” and “shoot them.”

Three white extremists were arrested and charged with attempted homicide after they got into an argument and fired on a group of people protesting white nationalist Richard Spencer’s speech in Gainesville, Florida, police said Friday.

Shortly after Spencer’s speech Thursday at the University of Florida ― which was met by thousands protesting him and his racist message ― a silver Jeep carrying three white men, two of whom have connections to extremist groups, pulled up to a bus stop and started to argue with protesters who had gathered there, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

The three men, Tyler Tenbrink, 28, William Fears, 30, and Colton Fears, 28, quickly began threatening the protesters, making Nazi salutes and shouting chants about Adolf Hitler. One of the protesters responded by using a baton to hit the rear window of their vehicle. The vehicle pulled away momentarily, and then quickly stopped. Tenbrink, a convicted felon from Richmond, Texas, jumped out of the car and produced a handgun. Then the Fears brothers, both of Pasadena, Texas, encouraged Tenbrink to shoot the protesters, shouting, “I’m going to fucking kill you,” “kill them” and “shoot them,” according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Tenbrink fired off a single round, which missed the protesters and instead struck a building directly behind them, police said.

All three men then jumped back into the vehicle and fled, but one of the protesters noted the license plate number and reported it immediately to the police. Just a few hours later, an off-duty Alachua County sheriff’s deputy, who was on his way home after working the Spencer event, began searching for the vehicle and ultimately found it. Local authorities arrested the men about 20 miles north of Gainesville.

You think political divisions will be gone because Trump leaves office?
