It's strange that cons like BLABO seem to want the current administration to be held to a higher standard than the previous one, isn't it?
No, NOT the standard set by the previous administration. The standard has to evolve with the threat. Tactics have to change.

The standards have evolved since then. No standard is 100% foolproof.

Why do you expect it to be?

In case you didn't know, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of religion.

I know you're scared, but I'm not willing to throw out America system of justice and fairness out along with our Constitution because you have a bladder control issue triggered by Muslims.

Congressional Republicans have fought to decrease the budget for Border Patrol and Immigration. Then cons whine that "Obama" is lax on security.

No?

My concept is pretty simple:
1. Do you even HAVE a visa?
2. Are you a military age male?
3. Are you on anyone else's watch list?
4. And last but not least, why aren't you in the huge, massively defended, well provisioned refugee camp paid for by the U.S. taxpayers that we set up for you in your own country?
If sources are correct, we could possibly eliminate up to 50% of them just with #2.

I agree on both counts, but have standards been tightened or loosened?
Why do you expect it to be?

I DON'T expect it to be, which is why in a previous post I stated that standards and tactics must evolve with the threat.
In case you didn't know, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of religion.

Oh, really? You should do a little research on Saint Franklin of Hyde Park and how he treated Jewish refugees in the years leading up to WW2. And is it "discrimination" to prevent refugees from certain REGIONS(not RELIGIONS, REGIONS)from entering the country?(that includes Christians, BTW)
I know you're scared, but I'm not willing to throw out America system of justice and fairness out along with our Constitution because you have a bladder control issue triggered by Muslims.

And I think it's just super that you are so brave that you want to extend the American system of justice and fairness, along with our Constitution to people who are not citizens and are not even in this country yet.
Here's a little thing I found on the interwebs that I think sums up my position on this subject:

Congressional Republicans have fought to decrease the budget for Border Patrol and Immigration. Then cons whine that "Obama" is lax on security.

And why do you think they did that? Because congressional Republicans thought it would be a good idea to block obama's anti-immigrant policies? I doubt that, seeing as how he basically opened the flood gates via executive order. No, he wanted that money for diapers, food and shelter for the thousands of new democrats he was letting over the border.

For someone who denied that "refugees" are the cause of your pusillanimity, you sure like to inject them into the discussion, don't you?

Standards have been tightened since George W. Bush's day. They will never be tightened enough to be 100% effective, because we're a free society.

Reactive measures are unlikely to work, because the terrorists will always be a step ahead.

Defiling our Constitution to make you feel safer isn't an option. Grow up.

I would hope we learned from FDRs' horrific mistakes. He's no hero of mine, so that dog won't hunt.

You clearly haven't learned anything from FDRs' blatant disregard for American principles, since it seems you want to apply the same tactic he used on Japanese-Americans to Muslims. People were scared in 1941, too. Your fear today doesn't mean you can repeat the mistakes of the past. Evolve.

Discrimination on the basis of religion in immigration matters is illegal. That includes all religions. Visas cannot be denied because a person is a Muslim.

Your lame excuse for GOP obstructionism reminds me why I stopped believing the GOP is serious about securing our borders.

We'll cut the funding because Obama might use some of the money to adequately care for infants detained by the CBP?

You make me sick.
