Which "disaster" of this type forced people to leave their homes, rendered their water undrinkable, and created a continued environmental impact for a city for months on end? Was the Transportation Secretary ever at home for months and months on maternity/paternity leave?

Yes, the train derailment did that and yes he was at home for months and months. (Depends on whether you count August to October as months and months)... Though his leave didn't affect this as it happened a bit over a year after his family leave.
Even Buttigieg admitted he should have spoken and acted sooner on the derailment, only democrat apologists that cannot take constructive criticism think he did everything somehow perfectly...
One thing I know, nobody had to evacuate their house because of the plane crashes, and the environmental impact of those crashes are not still being studied today like they are for East Palestine.
Do you have a citation for your claims above? I am absolutely certain Buttigieg was not perfect. But remember the manufactured uproar?
Can you say, double standard, okay for TACO, not okay for Buttigieg?

You suggested that plane crashes that did not involve environmental disasters were the equivalent to a train that remain burning for days and caused a disaster for an entire city.

Yes. Referred to in the stories, with the reasons they are necessary. The stories I linked also talk about the hundreds of millions spent cleaning up the site as well. The site is a continued health risk, was an environmental disaster. You have cited two plane crashes that were not environmental disasters, nobody was evacuated from homes, there are no studies about the continued health issues for an entire city, and refuse to read or absorb any information that does not comply with your confirmation bias. Then to add to it, when presented with the fact that the guy you are trying to defend saying he could have done a better job, you indicate you clearly have given up on the conversation by bringing up unrelated outside nonsense like Epstein to "bolster" the case of how this is somehow equivalent...
