What's the story with floyd?

Forget all about race for a minute. Forget all about this incident for a minute. Set all of your politics aside.

Let's just say there was a family disturbance reported, and the police and ambulance come and find a man with his knee on his wife's throat in the driveway, while 4 grown men stood there and watched it happen without trying to help the lady. The lady is gasping for air, and passes out. The police separate them. The paramedics discover the lady has no pulse, and the ambulance takes her to the hospital and she is dead on arrival!

Do you think the husband would be immediately arrested and charged with murder? How about the neighbors or friends that just stood there and watched this man slowly murder his wife?

You know damn well they would be arrested. And that is why people are wondering why there have been no arrests in this case.

I think it's a tougher case to blame the other cops. Especially given I didn't even see two of the cops in the video. It's hard to blame all of them when 3 of them weren't even touching the other guy. (speaking as a legal matter)

as for this being murder. I doubt this will be 2nd degree or higher. th is will prob be negligent homocide/manslaughter at max. maybe involuntary. it's hard to prove in court this cop intentionally killed this guy. that's what you'd need for 1st or second.

Yikes.

I appreciate cops. The good ones. Thankfully, 99% of them have families and are just doing a tough job to pay their bills like the rest of us.

But they have GOT to do a better job of weeding out the bad apples.

They're all bad apples. The cops who stand by and let the dirty cops kill people are just as bad as the killers. They would call that "felony murder" if it were you or I.

There was a whole fucking battalion of pigs guarding this murderer's house when people were protesting outside. Yes, it's all cops. It's the culture. And it has to change.

That's unfortunate.

And so is the training regimen in the vast majority of police departments. They spend FAR more time on weapons training than they do on de-escalation techniques. Cops are trained to kill, and then suggested to try and be reasonable only if a citizen is 100% compliant.

I don't know what video you saw, but I saw a guy wantonly crushing a man's neck with his knee, even as he went limp and unconscious.

The other cops saw it all, had the power to stop it, and declined to do so.

It's murder for all 4.

But yeah, in this instance I think a murder charge is warranted. This isn’t Michael Brown. The cop literally murdered the dude and he should pay for it and the cops who stood by should be charged with accessory.

Maybe there are cops trying to report bad cops, but clearly the institution of policing is not set up for them to be listened to. Because cops almost NEVER go to jail for shit like this. Every single cop in this video deserves to be fired:

1st degree murder is lying in wait and premeditation

2nd degree murder is intent to kill but in the heat of the moment

these cannot be proved. One can argue he was behaving recklessly but arguing he purposefully intended to kill someone is a hard sell

that leaves you with manslaughter

If they are part of a conspiracy to murder, they are guilty of murder. If they were part of the conspiracy at the beginning, and then did not do a positive action to get out of the conspiracy, they are guilty. The park police officer has a good defense. The three police officers that were in the immediate area assisting Chauvin are legally screwed.

To get it down from murder, you have to prove that choking could not foreseeably cause death. Choking does cause death, so that is a tall order.

To get it down from murder, you have to prove that choking could not foreseeably cause death. Choking does cause death, so that is a tall order.
