What would you cut?

Defense takes up 23% of the budget; SS takes up 21%. For the math-challenged, those 2 spending areas account for almost half of what we spend.

You can't have a conversation about cutting the budget without meaningfully addressing both defense & SS.

Actually that's not true, they are not allowed a belligerent force but they do maintain Self Defence Forces. This is the wording of the relevant clause in the constitution.

Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes.

In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.

The Russians don't want to fight. It would take a Pearl Harbor like event on they're own land to get them to support fighting.

Exactly. And even if they did want to fight, that's Europes problem. They feel threatened about it, they can pony up the money that we currently spend defending them.

Pensions..........878.5 BILLION

We need and could safety do an across the board cut of 10 %....

and concentrate on getting people back to work instead of growing food stamps, disability, unemployment comp. and obscens pensions

working people pay taxes and this bullshit about over 50% of people not paying anything needs to stop.....

EVERYONE should contribute .....and that means everyone.

Israel is our ally! We generally DO "side with" an ally, that's where the name comes from.

Look.... We can again, turn our backs on the rest of the world and become isolationist. It's all the same to me because, by the time it all goes to hell, I'll be dead and gone, and wars can be fought over my grave. We already know what will happen if America doesn't carry the beacon of freedom, it will be extinguished by tyrannic dictators... that's what happens in the vacuum of our absence. Eventually, the chaos and humanitarian loss of life becomes so enormous, you can no longer bear the images, and you demand we do something.... only then, it's too late, it's gone too far... it costs us untold fortunes and countless lives to 'save the world' from the forces of tyranny. It has happened twice, and both times, we were practicing the policy of keeping our noses the hell out of their business, and letting them sort it out on their own. They failed to! And what happens when the rest of the world collapses into anarchy and chaos, is that we will not be left alone in peace! Eventually, those same forces come for US, to try and subjugate US and plunder our fruits and efforts.

Just because they are an ally does not mean that we can not criticize them, especially, the President. They have done many things wrong and blind support is ridiculous, but because of the lobbyist, and the religious nuts, our policies towards Isreal are very one sided.

If we had kept our noses out of their business in the first place, there would not be this problem.
