What will happen to the restaurant businesses in lock down states and city's ?

I moved here in 04...up till The Great Recession my major complaint with Seattle was that it was too cold and sanitized...we used to go to Portland instead.

Seams like a lifetime ago!

Agreed. I moved into the Seattle area in '62. It was a wonderful and beautiful city then.

Here we go again with the "cities in steep decline," did you think cities as New York are actually going to disappear?

According to some, New York lost three hundred thousand people in the last year, that is three hundred thousand out of eight and half million, did you think that is going to hurt NYC? That the restaurants in New York that closed for good aren't going to be replaced?

For your stake, Covid better end soon, cause a lot of you people got to get out more, a lot more

I certainly don't. They more likely will end up like Detroit or Gary Indiana... Hollow shells of their former glory with decaying infrastructure and masses of abandoned, rotting buildings. The people left will vote the Democrats out and the Republicans in in a desperate hope that they might be able to turn things around after decades of Democrat mismanagement.

You're crushing people's businesses and livelihoods not based on science but based on a politician(s) personal decision. That's why you're having the backlash you are, even in liberal California. (especially when the leaders who pass these mandates are seen themselves dining indoors)

If not for COVID I'd obviously being going to the game. Can't do anything now other than sit at home and wait.

I'm not, nor are others, Covid is the one doing the crushing, as I asked before, what do you think the market for restaurants and bars would be like today if no measures were taken to address the spread of the virus? Would people be anxious to go out knowing that a killer virus with no vaccines of any kind was spreading unchecked thru the society via social contact?

Can assure you, not happening, 9/11 never came close, Covid ain't doing any different

I
'm not, nor are others,
Lie. You are advocating crushing businesses.
Covid is the one doing the crushing,
WRONG. Covid19 is an unusually mild virus of the covid/SARS series.
as I asked before, what do you think the market for restaurants and bars would be like today if no measures were taken to address the spread of the virus?
Healthy and vibrant.
Would people be anxious to go out knowing that a killer virus
They were. Denial of history.
with no vaccines of any kind
Vaccines do not stop a virus. All they do is teach your body how to better defend against infection, if it does occur. Immune systems stop a virus.
was spreading unchecked thru the society via social contact?
It would be healthy and vibrant. People are quite capable choosing their own risks.

No. It will become a rat infested hellhole of a city, like Detroit, but larger.

It already has.
That the restaurants in New York that closed for good aren't going to be replaced?
Does nothing for the people put out of business.
For your stake, Covid better end soon, cause a lot of you people got to get out more, a lot more
You can't command a virus. No one can.

Stating the obvious, of course people aren’t eating outdoors when the gov’t restricts people from doing so. Even a UCLA grad could figure that one out. There’s no science that says outdoor eating is a big risk just like outdoor playgrounds. We used to hear things should be science and data driven. These decisions aren’t and people are getting fed up which leads to them disobeying orders we should be following.

Also too when the Mind Molders (nee journalists) play up the fear as they do and misrepresent the truth as they do and bully all who dont conform to their will as they do the people, who sadly tend to be ignorant cowards now, tend to obey. Heather talks a lot about the stares she gets when she does not wear a mask outside, for which there is zero scientific evidence that she should, and how it is easy to see why people wear one in order to not get the backlash from the ignorant conformists.

The evidence for masks is overwhelming and all should wear them and distance happily. If people bitching about your ignorance bothers you, just do the right thing, Masking is not painful. It is not asking much.

Wrong

Wrong again

That’s the market

Never said you could, but you can take measures to reduce its spread

So if there were zero restrictions, no face mask emphasize, nothing, covid spreading unabated, you are saying that people would still be flocking to bars and restaurants?

In general, probably not, but why put anyone at risk, if they approved outdoor dining the next goal post would be what defines outdoor dining

Not lacking empathy for the restaurant owner going out of business, however I weigh it against the horror stories coming out of ER personnel, you can replace a restaurant, not a person

It’s his “freedom,” everything I see that excuse, and it is an excuse, I think what some of these people would have done in WWII and the like, be screaming you can’t ration gas, how can I drive the F250 Duelly

This bug rarely transmits outside, wearing a mask outside is dumb.

You’re creating a straw man. There were specific guidelines issued, which included social distancing, for restaurants to open outdoor dining. We’re not talking about opening bars nor are we talking about inside dining.

If you want no risk shut the country down again and let no one outside for any reason. Millions may die of starvation or other medical ailments but that’s your tradeoff for having no risk. Otherwise we go by what science and the data tell us and it’s says outdoor dining is acceptable following certain guidelines. If you don’t want to go then don’t go. But you’re not following science telling others they can’t. That’s just fear. And watch, in time when they look back on this that is what they will say.

People weren't going to restaurants as much until the mask mandates in Michigan. Even then people got carryout more than anything and still do. Our local Culver's has a continuous line around the building and stretching into the street at peak times. If restaurants just up and crashed and burned it's because they couldn't adapt. A local fine dining restaurant shifted to making wood oven pizzas.
