What Song Are You Listening To, Right Now?

A pretty good live version of it. The studio cut sounds pretty good at about 110-115 db.

Til Tuesday - Voices Carry - 3/26/1986 - Ritz

Interview with her about her new album. Looks like one of those green beatniks from Seattle now. Coffee shop vegans, drum circle frenchies wearing squishy bon hats, you know what I mean.

Anyways I always thought she was singing "this is scary" not "voices carry" and I been hearing that song pretty much my whole life.

OMG. I'm not alone anymore! For years I thought the lyrics were "Let's go downtown, it's so scary." We heard it a few weeks ago in a restaurant and I told Mr. Owl that I never got that song. He asked why. I said the lyrics were weird. He told me that I misheard and that's not what she was singing. Now he laughs at me all the time. lol

Charming comedic ditty. I can't help to think the horror of some people when they watched this with international tension so high in those days. Added to the Youtube novelty bookmarks. Thanks.

You're welcome. Lehrer has some awesome songs, some of which are still relevant today despite having been created 50+ years ago. Guess the attitude then was same as now -- your only choices are to laugh or to freak out. lol

In case you have a chemistry test coming up:

One idiot on this forum believes that Led Zepplin is a better rock band than Rush.

I don't think you can say that Led Zeppelin or Rush are any better than each other because the talent of both bands are top notch in most ways you measure them. You can say that definitely Led Zeppelin or Rush is better than Buckcherry or Godsmack without much disagreement. Rock bands don't measure up like they did in the 70s and 80s. Anything that technically rocks are gravel in comparison.

Here's a story about STP. I remember my older cousin way back in the early 90s was an STP fan and a grunge girl. One of her boyfriends looked like Norvana's bassist but with a long beard. Coulda been him. Real tall guy look like a lumberjack hippy in like 1995. Prolly not. Anyways she had these STP tapes and would listen to them in her car.

So then it was the late 90s and now I wasnt grown up yet but STP was all over MTV and so I watched the premeir of this video and the making of this video before the premier and Mr. weiland kissed another dude and I'm like man this band blows. I watched the premier anyways although my stomach was upset. Video was trippy and reminded me of shrooms. Then later a friend was obsessed with this movie called Donnie Dariko that I thought sucked balls but this video kinda reminds me of that movie.

Anyways fast forward another 10 years and I meet Mr weiland in LA on chance over several separate occasions and man he was a trip. Sort of a bitter experience but I could see that he was like man some shit is going down and he wants to screw with my mind.

Never saw STP live never bought their CDs. Only heard my cousin and my friends play their CDs and then saw their music videos on MTV. They were a big deal, I didn't really care. Not being an ass about it thats just the way it is. Sorry to hear that Mr weiland passed away a few years back. Totally unexpected. Dont know what to say except we never got in a fight when he was suddenly in my face so I guess he wasnt all that bad.

This video is a real art piece. You can tell everyone put a lot into it. Sounds like he used a dial up phone to write his vocal melodies or something. Prolly from jail. LOL. For all of what the 90s rock lacked there were some cool things going on.

RIP grunge. RIP Mr Weiland.
Rock on
