What should be the political platform planks of the OWLs?

Which Libertarian cares about anyone but themselves, please post, "I do" in response to this post. Thanks

Why not socially liberal fiscal conservatives like the founders?
Because what is been "Redefened" by the Far-Left, and the MSM, and Obama, as the "Center" is something which is already fairly far LEFT of the TRUE political center of the bulk of the American People.

The Far-Lefties have attempted to DEFINE their extreme as the Center, and it FAILED, HARD!
What is thought of as the 2016 "Center", would have been considered to be "The Socially Liberal Left" in JFKs era.

Well, the Elites and the MSM have moved hugely to the Left since JFK, but the Average, Common, Working American has NOT!

What is "Center" today, is actually "Slightly Left of Center".

BTW, this might give a clue as to what's happened to the Democratic Party!

Boy, that nails it!

This question was from another forum, but a good way to introduce the concept of the OWLs thus far defined:

What are OWLs in the political sense @Kurmugeon?
A "Theoretical", Slightly Left of CENTER, Working People's Party that I suggest those on the Right HELP get started!

To be a place for those who used to be Blue Dog Democrats to go, and those fed up with the Dems shift to the Far-Left, and the Obama led concepts of a "People-of-Color-ONLY" Democratic Party.

No, they won't win allot of seats in the near term. But they give an outlet and a place for HOPE and Sane policy discussion for all of the Obama-Radical-Dem disaffected to go! I cannot over emphasize how important that is!

If we want Stability, we NEED two viable parties!

If the Dems have decided to commit political Suicide, we need a safe, rational, restrained, CENTERED place to be the opposition Voice to the Republicans, to KEEP the Republicans Honest, and working for the best interests of ALL Americans!

The Term OWL stands for Ordinary, Working, Libertarians... Not be confused with the current Libertarian Party, and any of its platform or policies.

This would be the party for Pragmatic Centrists! Not the hard core economic and government stances of the current, Impractical, Libertarian Party.

It would be a party for modest, centrist, Social positions on subjects like Abortion, and Government Aid to the Poor, but also a group who believe whole-heartedly in Minimal Government which lives within its means.

It would be a party which beleives in Peace-Through-Stregth, but NOT frequent Intervention and Nation Building.

It would be a party with believes in Language, Borders, Culture, as the Core of what defines U.S. as a Nation. It would NOT support Globalization!

It would be a party which champeons needed Enviromental Protections, such as blocking and penalizing Salt-Dome Brine dumping by Oil Extration Corporations, but not Constraining every facet of our lives in the name of controling the Global Climate.

It is a concept I began working on, on November 8, 2016.

I spend allot of time on Liberal-ONLY Forums, as a Fly on the wall, I saw the current mess coming.

The Biggest Benefit to the Right in helping create the OWLs, is that it would "Redefine the Center", as not half-way between the LOONIE-LEFTIES of the Obama Era, and the Republicans, which is WAY LEFT of the Center of the Country, but reset the political definition of the Center, to be were MOST Americans are politically.... like TRUMP!

Is it a risk for the Right? I suppose... if your goal is uncontested, Authoritarian, Single-Party CONTROL!

I believe that Competition breeds excellence!

We are at the crux of a historical moment in American history, the demise of the Democratic Party, and the birth of the OWLs!

OWLs! - Ordinary Working Libertarians.

The sensible Party in the center, working hard for Working People!

So, what should become the primary political platform planks of the New Working People's political party?

From what group of people should they recruit their first candidates?

Will we be able to get enough organization completed to field candidates in all 50 states in 2018?

Should we allow ANY office holding Democrats to cross over?

There is a mountain of work to do!....

Ordinary people aren't Libertarians.

Don't even aim for "Legit Third Party", That is accepting failure from the start.

Aim for Replacement Working People's Party, One of the Two Major Parties... and let the Democrats suffer the scraps of being the Third Party!

And the American People have already shown they'll BUY it, after all, what we're really talking about is recreating the JFK Democratic Party. Recreating the Democratic Party as it was before Political Correctness, Critical Theory, and Cultural Marxism!

This is a great idea. Please remember that I DO believe this is a great idea, as the rest is not all positive!

So far I don't see you proposing any planks in your platform that have much of anything to do with the issues working class America faces.

Given automation, the fact that US production is at an all time high while manufacturing employment certainly is not, given that we no longer have meaningful collective bargaining, given that other countries have caught up to us in manufacturing, given that there are factors beyond taxes, wages and tariffs that cause corporations to need to do manufacturing in other countries, given that employers are looking more and more for college degrees, including in manufacturing, I want to know:

What is your vision for working class America of the future?

What is the source of their power in improving their own situation?

What policies do we really need to address get get to that future?

"Less tax" and "less government" are platitudes that don't answer any actual question.

Again, I do like your root idea. Working America has too little of a voice today, and our economic growth is passing them bye. But, from there this thread sounds like Bush43 saying he wants the "pie higher".

The OWLS?

:rofl2:

OK

I thought this was interesting. Go into it a little more please.
Workers are being left behind by automation - with numbers of employees required shrinking and the job remaining getting job descriptions that often require training and education that aren't available to those on the job. We're seeing less in the way of compensation, retirement, job security, on the job safety, etc. - features once affected by collective bargaining. Etc.

These issues are NOT addressed by trying to force companies to "come back". When they DO come back, they don't come back and look like they once did. US Steel, for example, came back and opened steel production that required less than 1/10th the employment as they required when they left.

We are NOT going to go back to the way it once was.

So, I just want to know what the future IS going to look like.

How is it that these "OWLS" are going to make a difference? How will they help reduce the size of the problems workers face today?

So far, it sounds like it WON'T be by voting, as voting means that government is expected to do something - and the basic tenet of the "OWLS" as noted in this threat is that government will do even LESS!!!

OK, I thought you were leaning toward the class warfare route.

You'll find differing opinions on automation but from what I've read the majority (barely) seems to think it actually adds jobs. People are just going to have to find a way to pay for retraining until you can take automation shop in middle school and high school.
