There seems to be more & more consensus on the scientific/medical side of things: wearing a mask, along with washing hands & distancing, are things we all can do to help slow the spread of COVID.
Now, "consensus" has certainly come to have negative connotations - particularly with global warming. The argument w/ AGW is that scientists are paid off by Democrats and others to game the research - it's a political gain for the party to create the illusion that we can do something to effect our environment and improve things.
But what are the politics of masks? Why would a political party benefit from more people wearing them? I can actually see where Trump could if they're truly effective. The better off we are in November in terms of spread, the better his electoral prospects are.
And please - spare me the nutty "liberty" argument, where somehow mask compliance during a pandemic gives the government control over what we do.
So, what's the deal? Seeking serious arguments on this.
