What is Bush trying to say here?

1-6 was much worse than 911. 911 was a terrorist shot at America. It was not going to change our government. 1-6 was designed to overthrow a fair and honest election and install, a wannabe dictator. That would have changed America forever. If they caught the politicians, they would have been killed. 1-6 is the worst attack at the American experiment since the Civil War.

Then he just pissed on the hero’s of 9/11 and the victim’s families.

I officially regret ever voting for the man.

HUH!!! How the fuck do you extrapolate what he said into that bullshit?
Face it. You're just desperately trying to spin what he said so you can hate the man for saying it.

BTW, it won't be long before you say "I officially regret ever voting for the man" about Trump. I guarantee it.

This thread kind of sums up the current GOP.

Criticizing extremism has become controversial. The base is now comprised of a significant # of extremists.

If you had shown me this quote a decade ago and told me the kind of reaction it would get from conservatives, I wouldn't have believed it.

So true. The RepubliQans live in Bizarro World. They embrace Qanon, Proud Boys, Boogaloo, Arian Nation, KKK, 3 Percenters.

Sad to think I was once a registered Republican for 40 years.

The GOP is a party that could have won over a voter like me. I've been disenchanted w/ the Dem party for years, and don't consider myself to be a Democrat.

Kasich was my top choice of all the candidates in 2016, and 2nd place wasn't even close.

But man, have they gone down the rabbit hole. No longer even a remote option. I am still party-less.

Kasich is a bowl of mush. He has no ideas except "we gotta get along" and that doesn't fly anymore.

I voted Dem up to and thru the Obama first term. his 2nd term i figured him out to be a racialist (disgusting)
and his foreign policy crappy for Syria and especially Libya. So I went 3rd party.
No way was i going to vote for the warmonger McCain

Unfortunately the far left Progs have taken over the Dems, and they are socialists by all metrics.
Biden claims to be a moderate - he isn't- he kowtows to Progs agenda.

So you should make a decision where you stand.
The middle of the road is nothing but roadkill.
It doesnt work anymore

Well, I ain't going GOP if you guys keep apologizing for extremists, as you have on this thread.

You're going to have to do better than that about Kasich. One of the pillars of the Republican Revolution in the '90's, and someone who got an enormous amount done in Congress during that time. His record in OH is impeccable.

When did you guys start devaluing experience & actual accomplishments? Kasich would have been an amazing President. Light years from Trump, and much better during a pandemic.

Good synopsis.

Here’s the dynamic, imo. Trump was a product of the globalist movement in the same sense that Europe’s venture into immigration insanity led to Brexit. Populist nationalism is a reaction to neo-Marxism and globalism. Trump ran—and won, on ‘America First’ populist nationalism. That’s why ‘the wall’ was one of the cornerstones of his campaign. Bring our jobs back and control immigration in order to save the working class.

Democrats, generally, may be a herd of Lemmings but their leaders are smart. They saw the danger the movement presented for the globalist agenda so they did everything but tie themselves into knots trying to make populist nationalism=white nationalism.

But 2020 showed they only had mixed results. Working class Hispanics aren’t stupid, either. They trended *strongly* towards Trump in 2020. They saw through the charade and the lies parroted by the media. They understand that unfettered immigration across the southern border threatens to take bread off their table.

As long as Republicans stick to ‘Trumpism’ I expect the trend to continue. I don’t see where the party has much choice. Trump was transformational in that sense, whether he runs again or not.

Since I don't think anyone has done it yet on this thread, I'd like to give Bush some kudos for taking such a politically unpopular position (at least on the right). Coming out against extremism is a true 3rd rail in politics. So bold.

I like Kasich. Always have. But as long as the RepubliQans grovel at Trump's feet and foment The Big Lie, I will not consider them a viable party.
With the way they're resisting the Capitol riot Investigation and advancing anti-vax misinformation, they represent much of what I'm against.
