What if harping on "radical Islam" plays right into the radical Islam agenda?

Why are people so obsessed with Yurt?

Anyway, what difference does that make? Some believe they are at war, especially towards gays and abortion clinics. Or take radical anti government types. No one has any qualms about saying they are radical rightists or righty terrorists.

If Christians are not at war with the west, are they really terrorists?

He finally gets with the program. Now that we finally know he believes it helps all groups and not just this group, we can finally get down the matter.

Now that he thinks this kind of rhetoric helps all these groups, what kind of rhetoric should we use? What should we call them differently?

Daesh

It's not somersaults. Don't exaggerate.

You may or may not be helping their cause. I haven't seen one of you guys yet present a compelling argument that you're not. It's not about "protecting the image of Islam," or offending anyone. It's about legitimizing their cause and actually helping their cause.

A lot of Muslims say they are NOT Islamic - that they're perverting the religion. Why not listen to them?

It's pure supposition that it matters one way or the other. Milagro said the Brits gave up on it and starting saying radical Islam and it doesn't seem to matter there.

Like it or not, the radicals interpretation of Islam is not without historical precedent. A Muslim caliphate is not a 2014 invention by ISIS. The moderates can say what they will but the facts are what they are.

In fact, I suspect it's not terribly difficult to persuade some Muslims that ISIS is more right than wrong about Islam.

It certainly goes toward explaining a few things.

ok. so lets lay out the theory.

Action : Label terrorism as Islamic terrorism.

We clearly blame the religion as a whole for the persistent actions of a few.

Does this

A) make the moderates hate the muslims and turn them in to redeem the religion

or

B) make the moderates join the extremists wholesale?

Given that the other approaches we have tried failed and there is now more terrorism than ever we can try it and hope for A. If you trully cared about Islam you wouldnt want it associated with terrorism and would do anything to stop that from happening.

second theory

Action Keep the distinction between moderates and extremists. Make sure we never blame Islam for any of the tragedies.

Does this

A) make moderates turn a blind eye towards extremism? After all why stick their neck out and take the risk.

or

B) make the moderates inform and give up the extremists because they are grateful we do not lump them with terrorists?

The good thing about the second theory is we see it in action now and can judge it based on brussels and other events. US claims to kill 20000 yet it seems there is now more ISIS members than ever so recruiting seems to be going well too.

A lot of Muslims say they are NOT Islamic - that they're perverting the religion. Why not listen to them?

Because it IS in their scripture and reiterated and magnified by Mo his self. Not to say that those individuals prefer a kinder and gentler take but that's just them.

yes . not calling it "Islamic State" delegitimizes the movement in their eyes. daesh is insulting

So it is okay to call them a name they hate and causes them much anger, but we need to worry more about what Trump says? Seems both piss them off.

Don't you know Muslims teeter on the brink of radicalism and the slightest provocation can set them off lol?

I remember the whole debate about how our free press should not print Muhummad cartoons. But not one liberal or anyone who was against the cartoons says shit when it comes to Christian cartoons or Jesus depictions.

That's not what I heard. I actually heard that if the President says "radical Islam" 3 times and taps his heels together at the same time, all terrorism will disappear and there will be rainbows throughout the land.

Should we call them Daesh?
