The Secret Service has a set of regulations it has to follow and has to provide security services that meet those regulations. Since when should anyone single out someone who is required to have Secret Service protection--not their choice-- and try to point out the cost of that protection? That's what's happening here.

Now, if it were something optional, or that the person requested outside the normal government rules on these things--Like Pelosi demanding an Air Force jet capable of flying non-stop across the US rather than take commercial air like the rest of Congress-- then carping about it would be reasonable.
