Jewish Germans were literally murdered in the streets, before most were publicly deported to the camps. The best you can claim is that the Germans did not realize how many of the Jews were murdered in the camps. They thought they were only murdering hundreds of thousands, and sending the rest to camps were many would die. They did not realize they were murdering millions in camps where most would die.

Jewish Germans were real Germans. They were killed in the streets because they were Jewish, but many were WWI veterans, or children with no political affiliation. It was done because the majority of Germans accepted violence against Jews.
