"By the time Obama spoke at Saturday night's Alfalfa Club dinner, he was joking that even his family's plans to get a pet Labradoodle had been delayed over problems with the dog's back taxes. "

I am glad Obama finds it funny.

His former Senate cronies say...

"I don't know of a person more honorable," said Kent Conrad (D-N.D.).

"It's an innocent mistake," added John Kerry (D-Mass.).

"My breast is clear, and my support is strong," intoned Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.).

"I will vote for Senator Daschle," the committee chairman, Max Baucus (D-Mont.), read from a prepared statement.

Well gee golly.... no big deal... something we should all remember if the IRS ever comes calling for an audit.

"They were disappointing mistakes, but it is clear that they were not purposeful mistakes," Baucus said, using words similar to his absolution of Geithner.

"We support the confirmation of Senator Daschle not because he was a senator, but because of the kind of senator and kind of person that he was, and is," Kerry added.

Kerry, so absorbed in absolving Daschle, didn't realize that the nominee was standing with him at the microphones. "Is Tom coming out?" he asked Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), as Daschle stood inches away. Wyden pointed to Daschle, and Kerry wrapped his arm around his former Senate club mate.
"

Good thing Daschle has Munster looking out for him.

LOL ohh believe me i heard the message loud and clear about back taxes.

Yeah... just fill out what ever you want, pay whatever you want, then if caught, pretend you didn't realize that all income needed to be reported.

I always thought you couldnt play dumb if you have credentials but apparently thats no long the case. Figured since i have a finance and economics degree and an MBA as well as series 63,7,INS certification that no chance no how I could play dumb.

Duhhh you mean i cant claim my insurance premium? It was a hiccup.

How far is that going to get you though? If these guys are any indication you'll end up paying the taxes plus interest anyway. And since you're not a VIP you'll probably get his with penalties too. Hardly worth it.

Of course, you will still be able to become a political appointee, unless you are a woman.

LOL i know im joking anyways. I have no intention to falsify anything.. but i am going to stretch the grey zone as far as it goes and not feel bad at all. And i dont care about measly penalties. I had zero federal tax come out of my paycheck in 08 and i used that money to buy into my ESPP plan for 30% gain for the year. My penalty for not having enough tax come out is $87 LOL.

Don't you just love that commerical about people bragging how much taxes they owed and how little they had to pay because of XYZ company?
