Western Washington showing Trump the love!

Globalists belong in whichever party is interested in growing the US economy. 9x/10 that means they belong in the GOP.
That's not exactly true. We do need to be engaged internationally for more reasons than just economic ones, to state the obvious, but there's this misperception among the free market fundamentalist that open trade is always good and protectionism is always bad. In a fact based reality world that simply isn't true.

If you look at the Whig protectionists of the 19th Century, they really only advocated those policies to help American industries to get on their feet. Later on, the GOP became quite less protectionist once industry began to boom from 1870-1910.

you have to remember 3D isn't a Republican anymore......its natural that he would bad mouth the folks he just shit on........

Yes, the fellow #NeverTrumper that I'm supporting for governor is obviously not running on the Republican ticket. How does it feel to be supporting the guy who thought Hillary was the greatest SoS of all-time?

12,000 in the Xfinity Center, and another estimated 10,000 that can't fit in the center in Evertte, just north of Seattle. This totally surprises me. I thought he'd fail to gather this kind of crowd. Not just any crowd either, but a hyper enthusiastic one.

Don't fall into the trap of mistaking large and loud rallies for electoral success. Bernie is the obvious most recent example but I read some past headlines of Mondale I think having the same thing.

Those are true points but there are times and places when protectionism is appropriate.

I would defy any free market fundamentalist to show me one, just one, developed nation that did not proactively enforce protectionist measures as they were developing into modern nation States.

One could also make an sound argument that some quid pro quo protectionist measures are appropriate when trade partners do not act in good faith or are needed to some degree when strategic industries are at risk.

An example of that is what is occurring with the Fracking industry. Saudi Arabia is not being a good faith trade partner. They dramatically increased production in order damage the U.S. booming development in oil and gas production and have largely been successful. One could argue that it is in the U.S. strategic interest to place import tariffs on Saudi oil to keep the price artificially high so that the U.S. oil and gas industry can continue to grow and provide us with the strategically important goal of not being dependent on foreign nations for oil.

In the short term that would cost American consumers more but in the long term it would assure a secure source of oil and gas with out the foreign entaglements in the Middle East and wars that doing business with the Saudi's and OPEC has caused this nation. This illustrates the fatal flaw of free market fundamentalism and its utter lack of long term perspective.

Donald Trump, who has made his criticism of a pending Pacific trade agreement central to his campaign, visited a Seattle suburb home to a large Boeing Co plane manufacturing facility that depends heavily on Asian sales.

Trump vowed at his rally that he would win Washington state, even though the state tends to support Democrats and Hillary leads by large margins in opinion polls.

The Republican nominee, however, presents a conundrum for the unions that represent workers at Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company. He vows to tear up trade agreements and scrap the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Supporters of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) point to Boeing's aircraft sales to Asia.

Manufacturing union officials said they find his track record unconvincing.

"Trump had the opportunity to bring jobs to Americans, and he's chosen to outsource them," said Larry Brown, legislative and political director for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents about 32,000 workers, mostly at Boeing.

Boeing produces planes only miles from where Trump spoke. As they are assembled, the painted tails of the planes show the airlines that ordered them, and many are Asian.

Over the next 20 years, Boeing projects that Asian customers will account for 40 percent of the total global jetliner's market, the company said.

"Trade is a huge part of the success of manufacturing in Washington," said Linda Dempsey, vice president of international economic affairs for the National Association of Manufacturers, which Boeing belongs to. "They are exporting $73 billion in manufactured goods."

Tony Fratto, a former official in the administration of Republican George W. Bush, criticized Trump as out of step with the party.

"Trump's policies in this area are really dumb generally, but are particularly dumb for a major exporting company," said Fratto.

Trump is having a phenomenal week. His acceptance to meet with Mexico's president, while Hillary remained hidden, and refused the invitation, was a very good decision on his part.

you tell me......you're the one who wants her to be president.....

right.....who the fuck would want a candidate with popular support.......

And you seem happy with her policy, given that your guy was a yuge fan boy.

Trump is not a partisan politician. He is running on the GOP ticket as an outsider. Saying something nice about Hillary while a private citizen, isn't equal to the criticism you give.
