Were mad as hell and were not going to take it anymore

They certainly have every right to boycott.

That said, the companies were supporting this candidate due to his position on lower taxes. If the companies give in to the 'demands' then they are simply setting themselves up for extortion. Because there will always be a group of people that disagree with a position or two of a particular politician.

It is truly funny and ironic that this 'movement' is being cheered by the likes of Moveon.moron as it is largely funded by Soros and serves his business interests.

I think I will find a reason to shop at Target this weekend.

Instead of voting for someone who just talks about lowering taxes why don't supporters ask specifically what he plans to cut?

I would support the boycott had Target funded the pro gay candidate for pro-business reasons and they were being boycotted by West Side Baptist Church. I think it's great that people are organizing them selves at a grass roots level to give corporations something serious to think about if they try to co-opt the political process with corporate money.

It's all well and good for people to boycott Target and take them to task for their political activities, but I wouldn't get too excited about the ability of grassroots movements to stem the flow of corporate political expenditures. It may work for certain corporations in certain industries that have a direct consumer base can punish them for doing something, but there are lots and lot and lots of extremely profitable corporations that are insulated from this type of attack.

How do you boycott Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, General Dynamics, Koch Industries and the like?

yeah... I am sure you would.

Just as you would support protests against the unions for trying to co-opt the political process with their money... right???

The same can be said about boycotting the unions and large PACs like moveon.moron.

or Wall Street investment banks. You make an excellent point, still, every little bit helps and with enough grass roots movements it could precipitate legislation to protect the voting public from the Citizens United decision in a manor which SCOTUS can't over turn.

Compare the financial might of corporations and unions. Unions derive their power not from their money but from their members.

I'm not sure what PACs have to do with anything.

I generally don't like boycotts. They're too broad & end up hurting a lot of people who have nothing to do with whatever view or action is being boycotted.

I'm all for anything else that gets corporate money out of politics.

LMAO... yeah... cause unions don't heap massive amounts of money into Dem coffers.

The point of the PACs is that you also cannot effecitively boycott PACs like Moveon.moron who also use money to influence political races.

If you compare all labor union contributions to all corporate contributions what do you think the totals look like? Get real, man.

Fair enough.

If you look at the contributions of corporations to each of the parties vs. contributions of unions to each of the parties... what do you suppose you will find?

Get real yourself. Unions give almost exclusively to Dems. Corporations give to whomever they think will be in power.

None of that has anything to do with my original point.

Well, this discussion is obviously going nowhere. You don't like unions. I get it.

LMAO.... you are such a douche bag.... you just don't like people pointing out the corruption that exists between Dems and the unions and influence the unions have over elections. You simply want to bash those evil companies.
