Wendys to offer self-serve kiosks at 6,000+ stores!!!! More job losses thanks to libs

I've corrected you on this before Wacko. This is typical GOP "if I say something often enough it becomes true.". What you're saying is untrue and not factually correct.

The basis of the law enacting the minimum wage was to provide a baseline wage that would provide for a persons basic needs, i.e. a living wage.

That may not be what you believe the minimum wage should be about but the fact is that was exactly what the minimum wage was intended to be when it was enacted into law in 1938.

Now you may believe there should be a different standard for the minimum wage for a dependent minor. I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you but don't try to tell me that the minimum wage wasn't intended to provide a living wage cause you are simply and factually wrong.

Have the government set one living wage for people in Jackson, MS and Toledo, OH and then NYC and SF and tell me how that will work.

Last I saw States were able to set minimum wages. Obviously the cost of living in Manhattan or San Francisco is different than Bucolic Mississippi. Which has what to do with my comment?

Look no one should expect to thrive or prosper on the minimum wage but it was intended to provide a basic living wage.

If we're talking about the federal minimum wage, which is what was set by FDR, you have to talk about cost of living nationally.

My beliefs about the minimum wage aside I'm ok with a low federal minimum wage and then letting each city/state decide. That's democracy and the market in action.

Contrary to stereotypes and the repeated claims of minimum wage opponents, the overwhelming majority of low-wage workers are adults, not teens, and they contribute a substantial portion of their households’ incomes.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, three quarters of minimum wage earners are 20 or older.

That's not rational. You also need to adjust it for parity purchasing power (ppp). That would mean a minimum wage of around $10/hr.

As for setting a federal minimum wage....it's always low. That's why it's called "a minimum wage." And it is currently what our federal government does. It's called Fedaralism. Congress creates a law, the executive enforces them through regulations that set a minimum standard and the States are free to have a higher standard. That's how federalism works and that's how an even playing field that markets need to be stable are created. This is not done by free market religious zealotry, monopolies and supply side fantasies or anarcho-libertarian fairy dust.

maybe the solution is not to rely on service sector jobs and call that full employment. (defined as 5% or less unemployment)

In the vast majority of places the minimum wage has been unchanged. Hell, in California, the minimum wage has been unchanged. You really think this project that Wendy's has been working on for years, is a specific response to the 15 an hour campaign of the past few months? That only exists in the imaginations of rightists.

Of course this isn't a response to attempts to increase the minimum wage.

But that won't stop lying Righties from claiming just that.

That sounds great in theory but everyone doesn't have the capability to do so.

Shut up, liberal.

If it weren't for your bleeding heart demands for higher wages, American workers could enjoy jobs like this:

Our society wouldn't be hamstrung by burdensome government regulation and our economy would be strong, just like Syria's.

Heck, we have street flower sellers all over Pittsburgh. I don't have to go to Syria to see it. Those guys are out there 12 months of the year. Who would want to be selling in either zero degree or 90-degree weather if they didn't have to?

It's the liberal's fault. They made wages so high and government regulation so burdensome that the flower sellers you see are ex-CEOs who were forced to close their businesses down and lay off thousands of Americans.
