As the mood of the country changes, the type of state and local politicians who get elected changes.

We're just going through another one of our national mood swings right now.

A few years of having the hard-nosed "you ain't shit if you ain't rich" GOP style of governance shoved down the nation's throat and it will reverse course again.

And it won't involve the Dems getting a new message, either.

Frankly it matters not as the sentiment is exactly right in my opinion at least. Perhaps an old French quote will help you instead? "Political opinions are like crossing a street: first, you look to the left, and then you look to the right". Churchill couldn't have said that as we drive on the left!

I do know he gave great courage to the Brits during the Battle of Britain - those were terrible times and the Brits needed his bulldog determination.
He also worked very well with FDR. Anything else really pales to his role during WWII

FDR had the weapons to save England but
Churchill provided the resolve after Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain. Churchill also pressed FDR for Lend-Lease.

The 2 coordinated how to win WWII. Not that there weren't stark difference -but the "Germany first"strategy
was pressed by Churchill.
Why you bring Columbus into this isn't my concern.
