Like bush in Iraq, although the cry then was "take their oil."Trump wants their oil at a discount.

Agreed. Iraq was all about planting the American flag in the heart of ME oil country.Like bush in Iraq, although the cry then was "take their oil."
I do worry that as we become an older society, more and more of our votes are going to older people who do not want change.
But the solution is not to kill a bunch of kids, like Kennedy wants.
Black people been showing proof since the boat ride of 1776We now have solid proof that the future of the GOP after Trump is unabated Nazism
I get asked a lot about what comes after Donald Trump. Will the Republican Party go back to its conservative roots? Will it continue on a path of absurdity? Will things get better or worse for Republicans? I always replied with TBD.
These same questions have been raised for years, ever since Trump won in 2016 and took a wrecking ball to the Mitt Romney, George H.W. Bush, and Lamar Alexander moderate conservatism. They look like Democrats today.
Pundits and politicians continue to debate the future of the GOP after Trump, all with different takes, including some who echo my TBD. Well, TBD no more: After a shocking Politico report on Tuesday, we now know the answer.
The future of the Republican Party is unabated Nazism.
The answer is no longer a hypothetical. The next generation of GOP leaders have made it crystal clear what’s ahead, and it is terrifying. Leaked Telegram texts among Young Republican leaders reveal a culture steeped in anti-Semitism, racism, misogyny, and violent fantasies.
It is language so extreme it defies belief. It’s also ruinous, and given how far the U.S. has fallen so far under the reign of Trump, Nazism as a Republican platform is not out of the question.

According to Politico, Peter Giunta, then chair of the New York State Young Republicans, wrote that anyone who voted against him would be sent to a “gas chamber” and boasted of creating “the greatest physiological torture methods known to man.” As Politico explained, he was "referring to an upcoming vote on whether he should become chair of the Young Republican National Federation, the GOP’s 15,000-member political organization for Republicans between 18 and 40 years old."

An interesting point. The challenge i see and that i think people like Kennedy see and fear is that because modern medicine is so good at keeping people at ever advanced years, ever advancing obesity levels and with layers and layers of sickness and disease, we creating a big percent of the population who are completely dependent on medicines and who look to medicine FIRST whenever something ails them, but are also living with growing group of co-morbidities.
And while extending those people lives is ok, you have another group who threw a mix of good luck, being very disciplined in food and exercise, and other disciplines who do everything they can to avoid needing or taking medicine. It is a literal last step for them after trying everything else.
What covid taught us is that the latter group, in the face of increased pandemic type threats, even when they themselves are not at threat will be asked or demanded to take any medicines necessary to protect the ever increasing cohort of vulnerable people.
Many people, especially those who embrace medicine more will simply say 'they should shut up and take it for the good of everyone else', but there is a manifest unfairness in that to them. Not as bad as letting the vulnerable die, but that does not undue that making people take medicines they do not need, that comes with risk of creating its own co-morbidities or other issues is not exactly fair.

Every thread with MAGAts in it is an example of "group think". Predicting what a MAGAt believes is easy: just read Trump's Truth Social rants. It'll be regurgitated verbatim by all JPP MAGAts. Easy peasy. This thread is another great case study in group think. There is plenty to criticize about what is going on right now, I’m not questioning that.
But this is the echo chamber rhetoric claiming we’re living in 1930s Berlin, we’re on the same path and America is about to or should fall.
An interesting point.
