Here’s the thing. You can insist that you and your husband empathize, and maybe you do, maybe you are “there for” people on a one-to-one occasionally. We all do that, but that doesn’t qualify us to hold the highest office in America, nor does it typify how you behave overall, and to entire groups of people.


So here are a few questions for you:


Does your husband empathize with same-sex couples who want to commit to a permanent, loving, stable relationship by getting married?


Does your husband empathize with African American, elderly, young, and disabled voters who are being disenfranchised by Republican governors and legislators?


Does your husband empathize with the poor, the elderly and the disabled who can’t afford proper medical care, a home of their own, or a quality education?


Does your husband empathize with bakery owners who you insulted by comparing their product with that of a 7-Eleven “or whatever”?


Does your husband empathize with the unemployed who his “corporate people” friendsrefuse to hire, despite making record profits?


Does your husband empathize with ailing dogs stuck in cages tied to the roof of his car?


Does your husband empathize with gay teens who scream as he bullied them, forcibly pinning them down to give them a “hack job” hair cut?


Does your husband empathize with blind teachers who are the butt of his practical jokes?


Does your husband empathize with women who have been raped, “legitimately” or otherwise, and choose not to have their rapist’s baby? Or does he empathize more with Todd Akin and Paul Ryan?


Does your husband empathize with women who are forced to have vaginal probes inserted inside of them because your fellow Republicans insist that their government knows more about their bodies and choices than the women and their own doctors do?


Does your husband empathize with the drivers he stopped when he was impersonating a police officer?


Does your husband empathize with those who were drafted into the military to fight a war he refused to fight, instead taking off for France to live in a Paris mansion?
