Watters' World on tonight

These segments always remind me how horrible our education system is (and teachers' unions). Our students need to actually learn our U.S. History, rather than just being indoctrinated. :palm: I memorized all the U.S. Presidents when I was in third grade, but I learned them on my own using encyclopedias that my grandparents gave me.

I loved our encyclopedia at home, too. In grade school I used to love just pulling out a volume at random and flip through to find interesting stuff to read.

I know! You might even say it's how I got into politics in the first place, haha. I read about each of the presidents in their encyclopedia profile, and would just go from one to the next, and it would be bedtime, and I would tell myself, "okay just one more and then I'll go to bed". There's just something addicting about encyclopedias when you're a kid and you get started on one. Now, I use Wikipedia, but it never seems as "official", lol.

I was always looking up people...anybody from anywhere. I loved biographies. And, then I'd get into my dad's maps and a huge world atlas and memorize countries and capitals and go get the encyclopedia to find out information about the people, languages and customs.
