Was McCain the last American conservative?

LOL at this thread

I find Kasich far more representative of conservatives than McCain. McCain was the guy trying be everything to everyone. Kasich is the guy who's true to his values, warts and all.

so you guys say trump is a racist fasicist sexist and in 2008 you guys said mccain was a racist facist sexist so how would mccain be the last? :P

kasich is a free trader more than a conservative. There are actually not that many conservatives who want unrestricted free trade which is why perot was able to do what he did.

Economic conservatism has always been associated with free trade.

I find ZERO difference between Kasuck and McShamnesty. In fact Kasuck may even be worse. I dare that weasel to run in 2020

hopefully, he represents a dying breed of those that think conservatism means doing whatever is necessary to maintain a global empire.

I never did find him particularly conservative. I found him to be in love with military intervention and sanctions.

Maybe so. Ohio is a shipping hub and his constituents include a lot of people involved in the flow of goods. Is he into fair trade or globalist race to the bottom? I maybe haven't gotten to know him enough and am just familiar with his PR

Has the entire rest of the American right been consumed by totalitarian, conspiratorial ethno-nationalist ideologies?

STRAWMAN ALERT!!!

most people don't understand what free trade is

If they did, they would oppose NAFTA

A free trade agreement by definition requires a complex set of rules that have to be negotiated between either nation. You need these rules to define what actually constitutes a product created in the other nation. If you just eliminated tariffs with the other nation, other nations could import to that nation and then reimport to you and avoid your tariffs. So you would essentially be giving the other nation total control over your tariff setting policy.

Yet even so, Kasich still couldn't get the nomination. The GOP doesn't want conservatives; they just want to keep their hegemony and fat wallets.

why would you be against sanctions? they are a nice non violent way to get people to do our bidding or to provide an object example so others are more willing to do our bidding.

It's more like the conservative base wants their leader to be reliable to conservative values... Drone-like obedience to their vision. But it's a mystery how they tolerate Trump, who is 180 degrees from such a candidate. Trump won because people will vote for a brand name. That's it as far as I can tell. They knew who he was. If you ran Pat Sajack, they would have voted for him. Alex Trebec would have destroyed the competition.

Mr. Owl would agree with you. He believes Trump was elected because of that stupid reality show, it made him a brand name.

That was part of it. Hillary conspired with her media buddies to push Trump stories and affect the republican nomination. It was revealed along with the debate question collusion also. I think it was podesta's email account that got phished and led to those revalations.

Hillary and the media meddled with the election. Does this bother you?

I should add that it doesn't really bother me. And neither does Russian meddling
