They love him because unlike Bush who sent them to die for a lie he is bringing them home.

That, I believe, is exactly the point Liberals have been making since the "more patriotic than you" RW shoved on us that the troops love them and theirs exclusively. A case in point is the last election, ad nauseum.

I also was in the military and I do understand exactly what you mean. It is the RW I mentioned that does not since they, for 8 years, saw it as a selective endorsement for their man and his policies. It is the Liberals that took your point of view.

Cheering the president/leader is what troops do, right or wrong, popular or unpopular, democrat or republican.

That's what troops do.

Hitler used to put on massive demonstrations of thousands of troops cheering him .. as he rode his nation into destruction.
 
obama is simply following bush's plan...i find it humorous when dems think obama has done anything different with iraq than bush would have done....

he is even leaving at least 50,000 there...

No, as dumb as Bush is, even he wasn't ignorant enough to set specific timelines.

He instead stated that when the commanders on the ground and the Iraqi people felt it was safe to begin the drawdown, the drawdown would occur.

Thanks to the troop increases, that time is fast approaching.

My point is that an Iraqi timeline was imposed, not an American-made one .. and that Obama is following pretty much what Bush would have done/forced to do.
 
A. I dont remember seeing that enthusastic reaction to Bush, I dont remember seeing Bush hugging a crowd of troops, though I am sure they were excited to see him. Obama is like a rock star to them!

B. I know they will be excited to see any CiC, but the Repug's used to use photos of Bush with happy troops as evidence Bush was ritchous.

C. Remember how being against the war made you unpatirotic?

Dudes were all exited and laughing after he grabbed the fake turkey and started walking around with it.

The first time he made a surprise visit the applause wouldn't fricking stop. The video I got from my Captain friend showed an amazing response. It's silly to think that what you remember is all that is and ever was. Your memory is laced with your political opinions and what the media feeds it.

most soldiers are conservative, republican, and likely support most of George bushes policies.
