There’s still Election Day, but I think since Senate control isn’t involved, there won’t be much enthusiasm on the right, but tomorrow will tell.

Obama brought out the GenZ vote.

I guess I was always a liberal Republican, which is an extinct breed now, and by the late 1980s I realized that the moral majority Christian nationalists and other reactionaries were basically in control

It was an interesting transition. Part of the cause was the end of the Cold War, IMO. The Republicans needed a new cause and the Christian Nationalists provided one in terms of being anti-gay and anti-abortion.

Biden made it a point to pass all his big ticket legislative agenda in the first two years. He doesn't need the House for that anymore. Biden should easily be able to find ten house Republicans to pass social legislation, like gay marriage protection.

The only thing of note that a GOP House can block are gun regulations, abortion rights, and voting rights.

As for the power of congressional subpoenas for investigation, Trump set the precedent that the Executive Branch can just ignore congressional subpoenas.

Biden can govern by executive action and focus on foreign policy until Dems retake the House in 2024.

House initiates all bills for spending, but they do not CONTROL the purse strings. The Senate gets to vote on all bills that the House initiates.

In any case, the House under GOP control is going to be a circus...a rather sad shit-show. If the House under GOP control were a restaurant kitchen...there would be wall-to-wall blood all over the place...all human and all caused by them cutting themselves.
