Walker quote~

Asked if Obama should interject himself in the labor battle that has seen tens of thousands of protesters descend on the Wisconsin state capitol building, Walker replies: “No he shouldn’t, for a couple reasons. One, we’re doing this to balance our budget, and the president of the United States should be focused on the much, much graver budget crisis we have in our nation’s capital, which he’s failed to lead on.

“Secondly, the president really has no position talking about this, because what we’re asking for here is still more generous than what federal employees get. I think many people do not recognize -- I certainly hope the president was aware of it -- the fact that the federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits.

“And in fact the average federal employee pays twice as much for their health insurance premiums as what we’re proposing in our budget repair bill,” Walker says. “So the reality is, it’s really quite ironic that the president would be criticizing us for something that is less restrictive, when it comes to collective bargaining, and less expensive, when it comes to healthcare, than what we are proposing here in the state of Wisconsin.”

hooray for taking rights away from the people of your own state against their wills.

This is really going to sink the republican party.

Public Unions amount to the people taking from the people-One group demanding better and more goodies at the expense of those who don't/can't have them. In addition to these upside down so called "bargaining rights"- it creates a quid pro quo of sorts between the politicians who grant the bargaining rights; benefits and those who bargain for them.

Yeah, that particular tactic is sure to work out for all you envious whiners in the long run.

Please, kindly tell everyone about the opulent lifestyle those eeeeeeeevil teachers are living, off their enormous salaries.

Please tell everyone about the opulent "better and more goodies" the teachers union gets that "regular Americans" are deprived of...and don't stat with the "paid benefits' line...teachers have already agreed to give the Governor what he wants in that regard.

It's darn near impossible to fire a poor teacher. Most people don't have that kind if security no matter how bad a job they do.

So some teachers enjoy a little insulation from the whims of activist parents who get their undies in a bunch because of some passing comment their kid's teacher may have made in class...a minor tradeoff considering the MASSIVE paycheck most teachers take home at the end of the day.

Let's not forget that in addition to teaching to overcrowded classes, teachers have to deal with unruly students who they are not allowed to punish, they spend hours every day outside of classtime creating lesson plans, frequent weekends and summers are spent being re-certified so they are capable of teaching the most up to date information possible, all while treading the minefield that is political correctness so they don't offend
anyone by making an offhand comment someone might interpret as political indoctrination.

No, I'm talking about the ones who get negative reviews year after year and they can't get rid if them. Why should they have insulation?

Desh, after the 2008 election you repeatedly posted the Republican party was dead. Don't you think you might want to lay off these death proclamations?
