Wahhh, Starbucks's cups are not Christmasie enough...

And tell me how a flat tax makes you be a Christian... I'll be waiting.

Ask Carson to explain it. I'm only quoting him.

"Carson, a Seventh Day Adventist, said the flat tax is rooted directly in the Biblical principles of proportionality, fairness, and equity. He said in full:We need a significantly changed taxation system. And the one that I've advocated is based on tithing, because I think God is a pretty fair Guy. And He said, you know, if you give me a tithe, it doesn't matter how much you make. If you've had a bumper crop, you don't owe Me triple tithes. And if you've had no crops at all, you don't owe Me no tithes. So, there must be something inherently fair about that."

So, he thinks he should be fair. That means it would make us a "Christian Nation"...

You are reaching. Seriously so.

Take off the blinders already. You don't need to defend him to the death just because he's conservative.

The flat tax isn't fair. It affects poor people more than any other economic group.

It would make us a broke nation. Imagine conservatives (who hate paying taxes anyway) being legally entitled to pay no taxes at all as long as God "tells them" they don't have to.

LOL... There is nothing in what he said that if "god says you don't have to"...

He says he thinks this is fair, and that fair is good. Everybody pays the same percentage.

Now, tell me again how that makes us a "Christian Nation" and we'll be good. I'll understand if you can't.

Why does he need to bring God and religion at all into his reasons for a flat tax?

Actually I am making my point well. A flat tax does not make us into a "Christian Nation" even if he uses an example from his "book of tales" as you might call it.

I think a flat tax with a table would be relatively fair, so long as there were no deductions.

Say, for the first 50K you pay nothing... for the rest pay 25%... Something like that. But heck... If I say that Christiefan will think I'm trying to make this a Christian nation...

Did I say it would make us a Christian nation?

Link up.

I'll understand if you can't.

It is what the conversation is about. If you can't grasp the current conversation then step aside, otherwise tell us how these people want to make this a "Christian Nation" as Jarod claimed.

I'll still understand if you can't.

Which using his analogy means that if you made no money you pay nothing, not that God would appear in your bathroom during your shower to decree you tax free.

You must be listening selectively to Carson. He's spoken many times on how his faith influenced his politics.

People's faith often influence their decisions. Obama has said his faith influenced him...

It does not mean, as Jarod claimed, that he is trying to make this into a "Christian Nation".

So if I claim I made no money, I don't have to pay taxes, just like God says?

My guess is that if you "claim" you make no money when you had they'd come after you like they did with Al Capone. If you make no money you pay nothing because 10% of nothing is... I'll let you figure out the math.
