Voters: pay attention on the debt limit

If we default on our debt - on our already established obligations - it's not a bipartisan failure.

It will be Republicans that cause us to default. It will be solely on Republicans.

The economy will go to dark places that are hard to even imagine right now. But Republicans don't care, if they feel like they can gain political advantage. They're willing to create suffering for millions to do that.

If it happens, voters should never forget.

Why is that? The House Republicans passed a budget bill to raise the debt ceiling that is now in the Democrat run Senate for consideration. Joke has promised he'll veto it as it is currently written. Neither the Senate or President has called for negotiations of a joint conference.

This it TOTALLY on the Democrats right now. They, and they alone, are holding up the debt ceiling being raised.

Republicans have offered a plan to improve the debt. Biden won't even talk about it. So if we default the ball is in Biden's court. You are either intellectually dishonest or just dumb. It is hard to tell which.

The Republicans want to decrease spending and the Democrats just want to just increase the credit card spending limits and keep running up the bill. Just increasing your credit card spending limits and running up the bill doesn't work for your family and it does not work for the country either.

Not true

What McCarthy passed was an outline he knew fully wouldn't even get a hearing in the Senate let alone reach Biden. It was a straight political document designed to get the GOP Congressmen TV attention on Fox. If one takes the pending crisis serious, you don't play political games with the debt ceiling, the Democrats didn't do in during the Trump reign

Most likely, and hopefully, McConnell and Biden will quietly work things out behind close doors. They will deliver it to McCarthy for again quiet negations and approval inwhich he won't be in a position to reject without be held responsible for the potential consequences

Ah, little lesson for you "copy," raising the debt limit is to pay for bills already incurred, not future debt, that comes later under the budget

You got to turn the channel on your TV ever now and then to find out what is really happening out there

The spending that we owe on is done. We OWE that money. That's over. It's deadbeat politics to even discuss not paying it.

I support less spending. That's a different debate.

Nope there is COVID money that is unspent. The pandemic is over. We should claw that money back. Stop lying. Canceling the student loan forgiveness plan also reduces spending

Actually, it is absolutely true. What the Democrats don't like is the bill calls for cuts in government spending. Biden is demanding a bill that raises the ceiling and would allow continued frivolous spending on whatever he wants.

Again, you don't understand what the debt ceiling is, it is to pay bills already incurred, if you want to address future spending, you do it in the budget, not debt ceiling.

If the economy crashes, which probably is what many of the House members really want not understanding the consequences, it will be on McCarthy for playing political games
