Voters overwhelmingly think Trump is making the economy worse (FOX poll)

Exactly! He's trying to line his pockets as much as possible before all of this comes crashing down.
The thing that future historians will find unfathomable is that Republican voters had numerous, multiple opportunities over nine years to ditch Trump and nominate a conservative with better character and better qualifications. But at each and every inflection point, Republicans just could not let go of their beloved Messiah.

No, I am pro strategic tariffs. I am against the wholesale imposing tariffs without clear intention toward a goal.

Things like Tariffs are not bad or good, its all in how it is used.
Agreed. The MAGA morons keep mentioning Biden in the same breath as tariffs without going into the details of those tariffs or the effects.

Tariffs are protectionism. National defense requirements of the Constitution mean Congress should protect certain industries such as ship building, weapons, food, etc. It would be remiss for Congress to allow a foreign power to hold us hostage by embargoing a strategic asset.

The problem is that the US is the largest nation to export agricultural products and Trump has targeted our largest export markets for tariffs. It's not rocket science to see why our farmers and ranchers are being hurt by Trump's economy.....but it's still above the level MAGA morons can comprehend.

The United States is the world’s largest nation in terms of agricultural product trade (and second behind the aggregated European Union). The leading U.S. agricultural exports are grains and feeds, soybeans, livestock products, tree nuts, fruits, vegetables, and consumer-oriented food products. The leading U.S. agricultural imports are processed food and beverages, and tropical products. Mexico, Canada, the European Union, and China are the top U.S. trade partners...

....The top 5 U.S. markets accounted for 61 percent of the total value of U.S. agricultural exports in 2024. Mexico surpassed China and Canada in 2024 to become the top market at a record $30.3 billion, a 7-percent increase from 2023. Top U.S. agricultural exports to Mexico included corn, pork, dairy, soybeans, poultry, and beef. Exports to Canada, the second largest export market, were $28.4 billion. Top U.S. agricultural exports included bakery goods, fresh vegetables and fruits, ethanol, non-alcoholic beverages, and food preparations. China fell to third place with U.S. exports valued at $24.7 billion, down 15 percent from 2023, as soybean and corn sales fell amid rising competition from South America. U.S. agricultural exports to the European Union reached a record $12.8 billion in 2024, a 1-percent increase from 2023, led by strong tree nut and record distilled spirit sales.

Democracy sucks! LOL

You might recall how hard the Republicans fought for Jeb! in 2016 and against Trump. They continued to fight him until the Midterms when Trump decimated the Republican Party and turned it into the MAGA party AKA the Party of Trump with a white nationalist agenda.

I think future historians will study this time like they've studied the rise of other dictators. There are some common factors, but I strongly believe it will fail in the United States because many factors are missing. Namely freedom and a decent economy....even with Trump fucking it up.

DonOld’s tax cuts did not boost the economy.

“Despite claims from President Trump and the Administration’s Council of Economic Advisers, there is no evidence that the 2017 tax law, which included deep tax cuts skewed to the wealthy and corporations and drove up deficits, had significant positive impacts on the economy during Trump’s first term.”

Trump has a goal. These tariffs are going to make imports more expensive, and as a result American manufacturers will bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. It’s not going to happen, but it’s a goal many people support (even liberals if you don’t tell them it’s Trump’s idea).

Trump and Bernie both sell the same story, trade deals have been bad for American workers and American workers are getting ripped off. So when people hear Trump and Bernie say they are going to stand up to China and other countries, they buy in.

My question to you is what are strategic tariffs? Politicians claim they use strategic tariffs to help certain industries or workers. Those workers of course love it. But what doesn't get discussed is tariffs raise costs and hurt jobs in the broader economy.

Tariffs are a good tool in the policy toolkit to maintain strategic American industries, when necessary.

I've never, ever heard a liberal demand that we have a chaotic and legally dubious global trade war against 130 nations.

Congress has a requirement to protect the nation. Hurting Americans through the vanity of a single man is not protecting the nation.

Moodys top economist says Trump's policies are going to cause a recession. Many economists and economic organizations say the same thing. Trump knows nothing about national and international economics. He is bullying us into an economic mess. His idea of economics fits with his being a bully. He cannot figure out that other nations have options. Trump is driving our trading partners into China's arms.

I am not an economist. I do not really know how to develop strategy regarding tariffs. I can see a non-strategic, play it by ear initiative when its this clear. These tariffs appear to be based on emotion and anger toward certain nations. It very much appears to be a throw everything against the wall and see if we can get anything good our of it. This is Trump's style, he disrupts an entire sector, the good and bad, then claims victory about the "good" things that come out of it, and ignores the harm that was caused.

I blame congress for abdicating their power to the President.

Trump really blew it by having ICE arrest the Korean workers. Who’s going to want to create manufacturing in American if your temporarily workers with VISA are treated in such a manner. He should fire Stephen, Temu Gobbles, Miller.

In other words, Trump doesn't want to be judged on his economy until after the midterm election is over
Just like the Republicans don't want his BBB to kick in until AFTER the mid terms , they want to wait and hurt a lot of people AFTER so they can try to keep control of Congress.
Just what is in it is is so bad they don't want it to be put into effect till AFTER the mid terms.
It is going to be one hell of a ride when it does go into effect.

Not hard to understand. Just another fake libertarian poser, who spends a message board career running cover for Donald Trump.
Good point. Not the first time a MAGAt traitor hid behind the shield of Libertarianism to justify their anti-Republican, anti-Constitution and anti-American ideals.

I've seen several claim to be Libertarians even before Trump and now it's revealed they were White Nationalists. They are truly evil people.

Agreed 100% but the Dementia Don is so far gone that it's really Miller, Navarro and other top advisors who are running the show. Let's not forget that Trump only reads a synopsis of whatever is handed to him....if he even reads that and doesn't want a one-sentence verbal synopsis.

This is why they keep pushing the projection that Joe "Autopen" Biden wasn't really in charge. They are protecting the Demented Don.

The Party of Trump is full of greedy, hateful, cowardly men. Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater must be rolling in their graves seeing what has happened to the GOP.
