Voter intimidation in AZ?

"Though right-wing claims of voter fraud in Arizona have been dismissed, a message issued by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio to his supporters has others worried about voter intimidation. Arpaio wrote:

“STOP ILLEGALS FROM STEALING THE ELECTION! Our grassroots army of VOTER FRAUD PREVENTION VOLUNTEERS will stand vigilant across the nation. We will be the first and strongest line of defense to ensure that only legal citizens vote on November 2nd.”

...Sadly, we are not just fighting criminals from other nations. We are fighting our own president and very determined individuals in America who want to disenfranchise U.S. Citizens of their votes.

it not, then if you consider this voter intimidation, what do you call dem claims that bush stole the election in 2000 and their efforts to "stop" another win by "fraud" in 04?

similiar rhetoric, but when dems do it, its good, when repubs do it, its bad

Just stop already with the accusations. I put the question mark in the title for a reason, because election day isn't here yet.

I don't recall a Kerry "grassroots army of VOTER FRAUD PREVENTION VOLUNTEERS" in 2004, or something similar in 2000.

From the article:

The courts have already nullified Arizona’s voter ID law, so one has to wonder just how Arpaio’s army is going to enforce the citizenship requirement. The very idea that someone should not have to show identification to vote is STUPID!

Democrat mottos: Vote early vote often- Don't forget to fill out your dead grandmothres ballot while you're at too...and pick up a few of them undocumented illegals on your way to the polling place!:palm:

I really hate that I have to explain the obvious, after this board just went through several days of discussing the New Black Panthers standing in front of a polling place in Philly.

It's not about counting votes or legal challenges. It's about Joe threatening to have some sort of volunteers at the polling place possibly blocking voters that look like illegal aliens.

How are Joe's volunteers going to determine who looks dicey without targeting every Hispanic who shows up?

Who gives Joe the authority to do this?

The country has borders.....the pinheads won't do anything to stop those borders from being breached and ignored....

The country has LAWS....one of them says that ONLY CITIZENS are allowed to vote in our elections.....pinheads refuse to take any action to enforce that law in any meaningful way....

The voter application asks if you are a citizen and anyone....ANYONE at all can just say yeah...I'm a citizen....no one checks, no one cares, no one has to actually prove they are citizens, they can and do vote even if they are not citizens....their is no control at all....

Its the threat of getting caught that keeps law breakers away...he don't have to question anyone at all, but the risk of being asked is what prevents the illegal action.

Admit it bravo. Your views are inconsistent. If the NBP doesn't have the right just to stand at the polling place, then Joe's volunteers certainly don't have the right to question voters before they go in.

Don't you even understand that it is the DUTY of voting officals to see to it that only eligible voters get to cast a ballot....thats wtf they are there for....they aren't there to drink coffee and read paperbacks.

Then clarify this. How are Joe's volunteers standing outside the polls going to determine WHO IS LEGAL AND ELIGIBLE?
