Virginia flips 14 seats blue in biggest Democratic pick-up since 1899

We know we are winning when Democrats are celebrating holding onto a gubernatorial seat in a state that that Hillary won by 4 points like they just took back the whitehouse.
:rofl2:

HIP HIP HOORRAAAAYY HIP HIP HORRAAAYY :rofl2:

seriously, If I was a liberal,
I would face the fact that I was a nut-job at this point, and keep my mouth shut until the 2024 election neared, AND THEN only if the Democrat party was able to find a worthy body to roll out.
Because right now it would just be shameful to parade around celebrating insignificance.
It's like a 1-14 team beating a 2-13 team last game of the season then jumping up and down at midfield while the dis-interested crowd files out of the stadium.

Even extreme gerrymandering did not save the Virginia GOP.

I suspect they are going to try for some sort of state level-equivalent of the electoral college next....allowing their shitty candidates to win in states where they lose the popular vote.

That's the real message that is sending shivers down spineless republicans.

Even with extreme gerrymandering, they still lost BIG TIME.

2024?

Trump is finished. You're in denial.

But VA is the bluest of blue states. It's bluer than NYC or L.A.

Actually, no - it's not. Tonight was real bad for Trump's GOP.
True to form, trump backs away from yet another statement about his agenda, by bashing his candidate after a loss. Once again...'it wasn't may fault'.

Sure...this guy ran on an anti immigrant, pro racist statue platform, and trump says 'I wasn't embraced by the loser'.

Keep tweeting you rotten orange....keep tweeting.

2020 brings new districts with a Dem. govt. in the state.

Why would any candidate support trump knowing just how he is going to be treated.

That and they have been waiting a year literally a year so they could boast about a political win. They have all this pent up angst they are dying to unleash

As I accurately predicted, these same people who didn’t start one thread about yesterday’s election prior to it taking place now all of a sudden think it is their path forward and it was their rapture.

Deep down they were scared to death about yesterday leading up to it because they feared Gillespie would win and they were trying to inoculate themselves. If Gillespie had own they would have claimed they never cared about it.

I didn’t realize how much you and I damaged poor Thingy’s fragile ego.

Now he will spend all his time typing the word “triggered” in response to anything I say.

I know these people better than they know themselves.
I see. So random speculation about a Virginia race that was incorrectly predicted to be close, is better than discussing the reasons why America came out to send trump a message?

Hell...everyone was bashing Northam for running a horrible finish to a campaign that ultimately ushered him into office by 9 points. His opponent ran on an anti immigrant, pro racist statue platform.

That's the real news here....if you ignore what happened in the state legislature.

Gillespie tried to thread the needle. He ran on trump's racist agenda in rural areas, but tried to back down in the heavily populated urban areas. In the end, voters spoke to their desire for affordable healthcare, and a general denial of everything trump.

The tweet was fantastic - vintage Trump.

He's the best at that. It's a true skill.

Surely you can point me to the threads started by you JPP lefties showing your interest in this Virginia race. I will understand if you can't

As for a message being sent to Trump? Maybe, maybe not. There are some anomalies in the results that will be overlooked by political novices like yourself

1) Gillespie didn't talk about illegal immigration and the statues until the end. He was down double digits early and then closed the gap. Although, Northam outperformed the polls
2) Lt Governor was pro Trump from the get go and out performed Gillespie. Did Gillespie drag her down? Was Gillespie seen as a swamp creature by the base?
3) Trump's approval rating based on exit polling is 43% in Virginia. For a state that went for Hillary by 5% he is outperforming his national polls that liberals constantly post here

Was it a referendum on Trump? Maybe Hard to say in a state what went for Trump by 5% and is dominated by the left wing swamp living close to DC

One thing is clear and it is always true about elections. Candidates matter. Gillespie was not a good candidate. Turnout matters. We have seen these swings since 2000. I know you will call it spin, but it is fact. The electorate has swung from GOP to Democrat to GOP and possibly back to democrat in the span of 17 years. I don't know that that has ever happened before.

Enjoy your win. You haven't had one since 2012 to really celebrate. But, I would caution making too much out of it.

I would also give you a bit more credibility if you or any of these other crowing libtards had been out front of this BEFORE yesterday

So Northam is going to give them "affordable healthcare"? Universal healthcare? Free? Rich gonna pay for it?

Good for him
