There is an oil-rich country in the middle east(hint: it's Saudi Arabia), American leftists hate this country for many reasons, but the most fashionable reason right now is because some of this country's(hint#2: it's still Saudi Arabia)operatives have apparently assassinated a "journalist" from another country that hates us(hint#3: it's Turkey). The first country I mentioned(hint#4: once again, it's still Saudi Arabia)is pursuing other avenues of revenue generation because they are seeing their profits drop off, and want to be prepared for a future when the oil industry is no longer profitable for them at all. Any signs that Venezuela did anything like that?
Well, you're saying those middle east nations are doing that NOW, but they weren't doing it before, back in 2015-2016 when the price was dropping, were they?
So it's a matter of timing.
Also, Venezuela has suffered 10 years of US sanctions against them, so that plays a major role in Venezuela's ability to diversify its economy. Saudi Arabia and Turkey don't have US sanctions on them, so investing and diversifying their economy with US investment is what makes it possible for them to do that.
Duh.
