What about them? Was anything in my statement anything about who should get these things? I was just telling you how addicts sell their cards to get drugs not making a judgement on who should or shouldn't get "stamps"... The cards made it slightly more difficult to do, but it is still done.
And it is absurd to pretend that every abortion stopped is a kid on stamps, DU. That's a foolish assumption.

Canceling SNAP cards and other public assistance because a few abuse it will only result in more pain for lower income Americans. You are free to believe killing public assistance to nail a few drug addicts like your dad is the Christian thing to do but I disagree.
Why not tighten up the program instead? Put a name on the card and require a picture ID? The picture ID could be made when the public assistance is initially granted.
I have not said anything about canceling SNAP cards, that is a "you" thing. I simply gave my experience on how one addict used the stamps and how addicts currently use the cards.

Having dealt with the mentally ill a few times, including my father who died of Alzheimer's, I never give money to those standing by the side of the road with little signs. I know they would abuse the cash by buying cigarettes, Lotto tickets, liquor or other items prohibited by SNAP cards/food stamps. I do, however, give to shelters although they need public assistance from Texas and the Feds too. Among other things, our nation needs better mental health care.
I, for one, don't want to see starving kids in the streets of America. The US economy is the best in the world. We shouldn't have any children living in poverty.
You didn't "miss" anything. You apparently believe my anecdote about my life experience is some suggestion we close down the SNAP program or something. It was simply a story about my own experiences, one of the true life stories that built the Damocles that "stands" before you today.

Selling food stamps for drugs is nothing new.
To Taichiliberal it seems to be something new. I posted an anecdotal story about my past and he insisted I post something that talked about the fact that folks sell SNAP cards to buy drugs. It isn't like they've invented the wheel here, it's been happening since at least the 80s when my father used to take me along with him to buy drugs with his food stamps.
