Vaccine Mandates Are The New Normal

Diversity Makes Greatness
"Many major cities and states, from New York City to California, have begun mandating vaccinations, or at least routine testing for government employees.

Yesterday, the Biden administration did the same for all federal workers, and the Pentagon is expected to follow suit. Major U.S. companies, including Google, Tyson Foods, Walmart, United Airlines, and Disney, have also taken similar steps."

Andy Slavitt:

We know that there's about 25 million Americans who say that, if they were asked by their employer, required by their employer, or needed to be vaccinated in order to get into major venues or gather in crowds, that they would, without objection, get vaccinated.

And what that tells us is that there's a number of people to whom getting vaccinated is neither a big positive or a big negative. It's just not a big priority. And so we need leadership from all across society, not just the government, but people who are trusted by individuals and who can lead individuals.

And corporations are the next big horizon. So, if we do our jobs and if corporations step up, we can go from about 70 percent of adult Americans vaccinated to 80 percent. And that would be — make an enormous difference and save a lot of lives. "

Delta-driven surge spurs governments, major companies to mandate vaccinations

"United Airlines is the first to require COVID vaccines for all its 67,000 U.S. employees. They remain the only major carrier to do so, but it does join a growing list of big businesses, Walmart, Google, Tyson Foods, that are requiring workers to get the shot.

United's CEO, Scott Kirby, met with President Biden yesterday to discuss the pandemic response.

" ... the reality is, the fact that you're about 300 times more likely to die if you're unvaccinated."

"I have been pleasantly surprised at the [employee] reaction. There are certainly some people that have strongly held views and oppose the vaccine requirement. And I respect their views and respect that perspective.

But there's a much larger group of the population that surprised me at how enthusiastically positive they are and appreciative that we were willing to take this step and make this decision for everyone.

And so my e-mail inbox, at least from employees, has run about 10-1 in favor."

Employee vaccine mandate is ‘about saving lives,’ United Airlines CEO Kirby says

"As of Wednesday, the university said 96 percent of incoming residential Storrs students are fully or partially vaccinated. They said 92 percent of Stamford residential students are fully or partially vaccinated.

Employees must show evidence of vaccination by Oct. 15, or request and receive an exemption or deferral, which would require them to be tested weekly."

Masks and Vaccination Mandates Popular With Floridians

"While 66 percent of respondents agree with the recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that students, staff and teachers wear masks in public school, support wasn't as strong for parents having the right to decide for their children. Only 51 percent were in favor, with 40 percent opposed and 9 percent not sure.

Vaccination status is another hotly contested issue in Florida. The survey results show that among the 131 parents of children between the ages of 12 and 18, roughly 76 percent indicated that their children either received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine or will receive it, while 24 percent said they do not plan to get their kids vaccinated.

What's more, 85 percent of the 118 parents of children six to 11 years old indicated they would get their children vaccinated if the vaccine is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, while 11 percent will not and 4 percent aren't sure.

"As the number of COVID-19 cases in Florida increases, the majority of Floridians support COVID-19 requirements, and parents are eager to vaccinate their children," said Monica Escaleras, Ph.D., director of FAU BEPI in the College of Business. "In addition, the majority of Floridians support the CDC's recommendation of mask-wearing at schools, but the level of support will vary depending on respondents' party affiliation.""

Hello Darth,

They’re short of workers as it is so that will sure help things.

I wonder WHY.

Let's just take a wild guess why so many jobs are left unfilled.

Maybe people, oh, um, I don't know, maybe they think life is more important than money?

If you had to choose. Your money or your life. Which one would you choose?

Well, if you're alive, you can maybe get more money.

But if you're dead, it doesn't matter how much money you have. You can't enjoy it because you're dead.

Now who wants to work a low pay job that stands a heightened risk of killing you?

Usually, if you're taking a big risk, that pays more. That's worth higher wages.

There is a reason Alaskan Crab fishermen go out there and risk their lives. One trip can net them tens of thousands of dollars.

But what's the return for risking your life in a nursing home? Low wages and no benefits?

No wonder summa those jobs go unfilled.

My guess it has something to do with the pay, irrespective of the CCP bug lol.

Nursing home grunts are notoriously underpaid for what’s expected of them. In fact, worker shortages have plagued all of healthcare—prior to the bug. My former employer was waving dollar signs at me just last week wanting me to work a couple days a week. Thought about it and said nyet.

There are already nurses threatening to walk out over this business. They’re highly educated healthcare professionals that are totally capable of making their own *informed* decisions. AND they worked through the pandemic.

How about we leave them alone?

THE TREASONOUS CORON-A-CRATS REALIZE THEY MUST KEEP THEIR PRECIOUS PANDEMIC ALIVE FOR ANY HOPE OF CONTINUED POWER.

I'M SURE THE CHINESE ARE HELPING EVERY WAY THEY CAN....LIKE THE "VARIANT" THEY DEVELOPED AND RELEASED INTO INDIA....

Sounds like that is exactly what the health care industry and nursing home industry are doing.

Sure, the executives of those organizations could take lower pay, increase the worker pay, but why? They make all the decisions about their own pay and everybody else's pay. They are greedy.

Preaching to the choir.

Any restaurant with intelligent ownership would advertise all fully vaccinated staff and customers. That would give people a feeling of safety. That is a positive for business. Run a competing restaurant that says we do not vaccinate or approve of them and see who gets the business.
Schools should have everyone vaccinated. I do not think they want the potential lawsuits if they do not demand it and kids get sick.
They should do everything possible to keep kids safe. They should also want to make the appearance that they are doing everything imaginable to not infect your kids.

That would work better for a finer healthy food restaurant than it would for a hick BBQ joint.

COVID-19 In Maryland: Over 1.2K New Cases Reported In 24 Hours

Source: baltimore.cbslocal.com

ANNAPOLIS Md. (WJZ) — Maryland reported 1,206 new COVID-19 cases and six new deaths, according to state health department data released Friday morning.

Doctors say the new cases are fueled by dangerous strains targeting the unvaccinated. During an August press conference, Gov. Larry Hogan said the Delta variant, a strain that is reportedly two to four times more contagious than the original virus strain, accounts for nearly every new confirmed case in Maryland.

Hogan also said less than 0.01% of vaccinated Marylanders have been hospitalized with COVID-19, and less than 0.001% of vaccinated Marylanders have died from the virus.

More than 3.6 million Maryland adults are fully vaccinated. State officials also reported that the state positivity rose to 5.06%.

Hospitalizations increased by 13 to 656. Of those hospitalized, 488 remain in acute care and 155 remain in the ICU as of Friday.
