The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday that, over the weekend, it accidentally fired "several" agency employees who are working on the federal government's response to the H5N1 avian flu outbreak.

The agency said it is now trying to quickly reverse the firings.

The error is the latest in the Trump administration's attempts to rapidly shrink the size of the government by conducting mass firings of federal workers — an effort that is being carried out by tech billionaire Elon Musk and the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, which is heavily staffed by people who have no experience in government.

The wealthy and corporations have always fought regulations by buying politicians and controlling the Repub party. That has been an ongoing problem and a lot of work and bribery. Now they are killing the agencies that do the work. That was a great idea for the ruling class. Regulations are the only defense we have against the wealthy and corporations. The fight for workers' rights, and cleaner land, air and water are fought by those agencies. Musk and the corporations have won. The super-wealthy as a class have never cared about the workers. So Trumpys think Daffy Donald has their interests at heart while those who have been fighting for better treatment of the environment and workers do not. You MAGAs are so proud of that vote. We will all suffer. That includes you.
