USA treats criminals well

You are trusting and seem sincere. China's people demand justice of a kind which achieves the result we desire. It is most unwise to meddle.

In other words, you leave your justice system up to the tender mercies of a bloodthirsty mob?

"During the past two years, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of the death penalty in China. This growth in the number of death sentences and executions is partly due to anti-crime campaigns launched by the government. Defendants can be put to death for criminal offenses, including nonviolent property crimes such as theft, embezzlement and forgery. In 1993, 77% of all executions worldwide were carried out in China. On a single day, 9 January 1993, 356 death sentences were handed down by Chinese courts; 62 executions took place that day. During that year alone, 2,564 people were sentenced to death. At least 1,419 of them are known to have been executed. The total number of death sentences and executions is believed to be higher. Defendants do not always have access to lawyers, and when a lawyer is available, he or she usually has no more than one or two days to prepare a defense. Death sentences have been imposed based on forced confessions and are often decided in advance of the trial by "adjudication committees," thereby circumventing defendants' rights to a fair and public hearing and presumption of innocence. That is hardly a justice system worthy of bragging.

Being a citizen of USA, you must be disappointed often.

actually no, in fact, it is your country men, women and children who risk their lives to flee their homeland to come to the USA for a better life....there is no one risking their lives to flee to china....

may i suggest you acquaint yourself with reality instead of your daddy's talking points....

China's consistent principle is to maintain the death penalty but use it strictly. China's courts adhere to this principle, use the death penalty with great caution and minimize its use to ensure capital punishment is only given to criminals who commit serious crimes.

Our society is far larger and more complex. We have much less crime because we treat criminals in the most suitable fashion.
I like China, there should be 5 of them again. The chinese people are governed by Barbarians with computers. The US boycotts Cuba because we don't like their form of government? We shouldn't even have phone lines that connect to China.

Your information is incorrect. We mete out justice according to duly enacted law.

According to whom? The state owned media? In a nation where free speech is against the law, believing what all that is reported from within your nation is folly.

Amnesty International has said the same things about China as were said in the tiny portion of the article I posted.

USA has no business lecturing China.

Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, Blackwater, do these resonate?

Our lawful citizens enjoy security and prosperity.

Only criminals flee this nation. None I have knowledge of "flee" to USA, which has a poor report.

Recently, Cambodia deported 20 Chinese citizens in accordance with immigration laws for illegal entry into Cambodia.

China received these people in accordance with usual practices," China's Foreign Ministry said in a brief statement.

"China is resolutely opposed to and will crack down hard on people smuggling, and believes the international community should step up cooperation to combat these crimes together."

The case coincided with a visit to Cambodia by Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping, seen as frontrunner to succeed President Hu Jintao. Xi is expected to sign 14 pacts related to infrastructure construction, grants and loans.

On Sunday evening, Xi praised ties with Cambodia.

"It can be said that Sino-Cambodia relations are a model of friendly cooperation."

Yes, those ring bells. They ring bells as crimes. And people were punished for some of those and the population was outraged about them.

Those events were reported by a free press, something that is lacking in China.

Your lack of knowledge of people fleeing China has more to do with your unwillingness to accept negative information about China than about the truth.

I lack no knowledge of these violent criminals. They have been deported by Cambodia as was proper. We will deal with them.

So you label an entire ethnic group as "violent criminals", and expect us to take your opinions seriously?

You are not serious.

I refer to the condemned.

Condemned by whom, and for what?

I was referring to the Uighurs fleeing China. You said you were unaware of anyone trying to get out of China, so I provided a link for your education. I thought that was what you referred to when you talked about violent criminals.

Slashed flesh, cracked heads, slit throats, charred bodies were littering the streets. These were the scenes in Urumqi on 5 July. There were also buses burnt down to their frames and shops smashed to rubbles, but I will not dwell on these acts of lesser villainy.

By slaying 192 men and women of Han, Uighur and Hui ethnicity, the perpetrators of the recent violence in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang region, staged an inhumane act of terror and committed crimes of savage brutality.

There is now evidence that this fanatical assault on innocent civilians was orchestrated by a separatist clique based outside China and organized by its branches inside the country.

Many of the assailants, after being captured by law-enforcement officials, were found to have flocked to the capital of Xinjiang from the south of the territory, a thousand miles away.

Before the incident, separatists based overseas issued calls for action - "without fear of sacrifice" - by internet or over the phone.

Does a conspiracy of such bloodthirstiness not warrant condemnation and a counter-strike? Is the effort by the Chinese government to restore social order not justified and worthy of the support of every just man and woman?

An effort to restore social order is justified. But only if it involves a just and fair action based on crimes actually committed.

The Uighurs have been rounded up and put in detention regardless of whether they were involved in the riots.

The Uighurs fleeing your country were not criminals, but refugees fleeing violent revenge for their ethnicity. Many of those who fled were not even in the region of the violence, and yet they cited violence against them but officials of the chinese gov't.

Wholesale persecution of an ethnic group is something that should be fought by every just man & woman.

By 2006, the number of Chinese immigrants had increased nearly fivefold, making them the third-largest immigrant group in the United States after the Mexican and Filipino foreign born.

Every year millions of impoverished Chinese men and women risk small fortunes and their lives to place themselves at the mercy of the Chinese Mafia in order to find work in the United States.

You are welcomed to fight.

Indeed I am.

You are welcome to continue to turn a blind eye to any and all crimes by your government. You are welcome to continue to brag about the superiority of your nation while ignoring the flaws in your own country.

At least here we are allowed to fight against injustice in our own nation.
