USA theme party too divisive at Maryland college

Bigger question is, why would anyone of college age want to throw a party with a USA theme? Boring

Considering the P.C. nature of many campuses these days almost any theme party is bound to be offensive to someone.

I can still remember the first party my frat threw when i was a pledge. It was called "South of the Border Disorder". I see no way that would be deemed acceptable today

Depends where you are, in Texas, probably not, nor south of the Mason Dixon line, and I think there aren't many northeast or west coast schools that would ever find the need for a "south of the border" party, not even sure what it is suppose to be implying

I went to school in south central LA and it was a Mexican themed party. And in '94 sh*t was crazy south of the border

Then no, it wouldn't fly today, but my bigger question would be why would any college age kid want to throw a party with such a theme, unless of course they were intentionally setting out to cause a scene

Why would any frat throw a pro USA themed party? Again, what themes are acceptable that no one finds offensive?

Maybe because the HELLO KITTY themed parties; just weren't as big then, as they are now.

“I was amazed and shocked at not only the reaction and lack of confidence of the administration in our class and SGA itself, but how they handled everything including some of the rude things said about our organization. It is quite disgusting how people feel and see the word ‘America’ as something that is discriminatory,” said one student government representative, who wished to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation from the administration.

“We should see the theme ‘America’ as a way to forget political divide and come together as a country and class and celebrate all that we have accomplished. That is what ended up happening, yet we didn’t have the support of people in our class and the administration itself.”
what a bunch of whacked out screwballs the PC crowd is. There are now 1 way flights to Havana -hop aboard
