US school to be named after Obama, drop name of Confederate leader

I have no problem with the name change. It's an all black school in Mississippi, why would it be named after Jefferson Davis? Let their school be named after someone they can look up to.

With all the potential for investigation of Obama's administration maybe they should wait lol.

Who would white schools name themselves after that they haven't already?

Boom. Stretch is a bit shorter after having had his legs lopped off by Cawacko. The response if any should be interesting.
Does he go full racist or try and parse?

How many all white schools are named Malcolm X? Not saying Malcolm X and Jefferson Davis are the same but trying to come up with an analogy.

Stretch had no such problem, he analogized Davis, the president of the illegal slave owner nation, with Barack Obama, first African American president of the land of the free.

I understand what you're saying. All I'm saying is it should be a two-way street. If people want the name of a school to be of a black or a white person, just let it be done without any drama.

And yet you are "triggered" because a 98 percent black school has done exactly as you suggest. Im sure their are 98 percent white schools that would very much support the name of a black activist or notable leader, and I bet
there are zero 98 percent black schools who would want to be name changed from say, MLK to Justice Taney.

Note the distinction. You appear not to recognize or dignify reality.

I am truly amazed that a predominately black school would have a name like that anyway. Why didn't they choose a black person who actually lives or lived in Mississippi like B. B. King, Oprah Winfrey, Mae Bertha Carter or Morgan Freeman?

That I can't speak too. Would be interesting to know the names they debated and how they ended up choosing Obama. I believe this school is in a lower economic stratosphere. If the name of the school helps inspire some kids I'm all for it.

It would never be allowed anyway...I was just showing a comparison. Been a few school names and statues of certain white historical figures that have been changed, vandalized and/or torn down the last few months because of emotionally triggered people. It's a one-way street, that's the way it is these days.

people dont like racists anymore

He's the first black President. I don't think he did a very good job but ultimately if the name is used as inspiration for the kids then good.

(Now I'm not suggesting we start naming all schools Obama, but when you have a school that's 98% black named after Jefferson Davis this is quite all right)

why is it OK to have a white school named after a racist and a traitor?

Basically a non issue since local tax payers should be able to call the school whatever they want.

And have freedom to teach what they want without nosy liberals from other states interfering.
