I am fully aware of the difference. And I recognize that in many studies it is not easy to determine causation.
Let's take another example. What if I found a CORRELATION between long hair and early death. No idea why it happens, but whenever someone has their hair longer than a certain length it correlates to a loss of 15 years of life.
Would you then grow your hair long just because "correlation =/= causation"?
The fact of the matter is: we have ZERO evidence that our massive gun ownership levels make us safer. In fact we have TONS of evidence to the contrary. So unless you have a more compelling explanation I'd say the thing to go after initially is gun ownership rates. Reduce the overall number of guns in circulation to lower diversion rates.
We already do the EXACT SAME THING with Sudafed. Law abiding citizens can't get a lot of Sudafed precisely because it can easily be diverted to making Meth. And our country survives!
We can still have guns...just fewer of them. Maybe a few more controls over where they can be carried, etc. or what kind of background checks we run.
Schools already look like prisons.
After all, the goal of the Marxist democrats is to institutionalize all subjects.

But it is telling that the rise in school shooting began when schools were designated "gun free zones." Way to tell the bad guys where the unarmed victims are.
Why don't you Marxists put your money where your mouth is, and put a sign on your apartment or trailer that reads "No guns here, occupant will not resist." I'm sure that will keep you safe. Robbers and rapists will pass you by, looking for a house where the owner is armed and ready to fight back...
