(AP) — The United States has determined that Russia has committed crimes against humanity in Ukraine, Vice President Kamala Harris said Saturday, insisting that “justice must be served” to the perpetrators.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Harris said that the international community has both a moral and a strategic interest in pursuing those crimes, pointing to a danger of other authoritarian governments taking advantage if international rules are undermined.

“Russian forces have pursued a widespread and systemic attack against a civilian population — gruesome acts of murder, torture, rape, and deportation,” Harris said. She also cited “execution-style killings, beatings, and electrocution.”

The Biden administration formally determined last March that Russian troops had committed war crimes in Ukraine and said it would work with others to prosecute offenders. A determination of crimes against humanity goes a step further, indicating that attacks against civilians are being carried out in a widespread and systematic manner.b“Russian authorities have forcibly deported hundreds of thousands of people, from Ukraine to Russia, including children,” Harris said. “They have cruelly separated children from their families.”

Well, the Russians have been bombing civilian apartment buildings, maternity hospitals and non-military targets since Feb, 2022.

Good of Kamala to announce it...a year later.

MARIUPOL, Ukraine (AP) — A wounded pregnant woman who was taken on a stretcher from a maternity hospital that was bombed by Russia last week has died, along with her baby, The Associated Press has learned.

Images of the woman, whom the AP has not been able to identify, were seen around the world, personifying the horror of an attack on civilians.

She was one of at least three pregnant women tracked down by AP from the maternity hospital that was bombarded Wednesday in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. The other two survived, along with their newborn daughters.

Those things happen in war. The problem is less what terrible things they did in the war, but the war itself. Once Putin started it, you knew terrible things would happen. There will be many more found when it ends. Russia has made a permanent enemy of Ukraine and its people. They will not forgive or forget.

Well, considering Ukraine is doing all the same thing and using chemical weapons, I think they cancel each other out.

Putin started off with a soft war to get NATO out of Ukraine but keeps upping the pressure as western mercenaries and weapons move in. Russia is in a fight for their survival.
