I’d give the Founders more credit than to think they would judge 21st America by 18th Century standards, besides, if so, then slavery “is baked into the cake”

We managed constitutional amendments to abolish slavery.
We managed constitutional amendments to keep us all armed.

Guns are far more baked into the cake than slavery ever was,
and now,

given the processes deployed to amend the constitution
in conjunction with the hard polarization of the nation,

further constitution amendments are totally impossible.

If we decide to keep America, guns for everybody are forever. Get used to it.

I see your point, but disagree

You don’t have to eliminate the Second Amendment nor confiscate guns to achieve sanity, no Constitutional right is absolute, none of them, they all can and all are regulated, Second Amendment is no different. Agree the current environment makes it difficult, but it is not hopeless, sooner or later the majority of Americans will recognize the need for gun sanity

there is a reason why the founders referred to rights as unalienable and listed things in the BoR, such as 'shall make no law' and 'shall not be infringed'. It is a mockery of the Constitution to then declare that no right is absolute, given the many reasons we split from England. Only those advocating for the regulation of such rights live in fear of the freedom of others, wishing to keep other people 'down', like racism.
